First of all I say this with no malice of any kind!! I was just looking through my Fotki and I noticed, not for the first time, that of all my pictures, the ones where my curls are clearly visible are the ones with the most views!!

I've noticed this on other people's Foti's too!

So tell me ladies, what do you find so fascinating about curly hair? Personally, I like to look at the curls of other naturals just to see how similar or dissimilar they are to my own.

Aside from that, I don't find the curls particularly fascinating, just length. :lick:

I dunno. You're making me want to go check my fotki views. I've never paid attention.

I just love looking at ALL curls. It really is like hair porn for me. I go on youtube and just look at curly hair videos over and over, lol.

I know what you mean, hence the ladies on Youtube with looser, defined curly textures get like 5,000 subscribers overnight and only have like 2 videos lol. It's funny to me but I understand..I see it in the forums all the time so I understand why some girls get more subscribers quicker than others. I dont go on Fotki much, but I notice it hard on YT.

Being natural is definitely what's hot these days. I think the straight hair look is so played-out. Hence why I am four months in to my transition, lol. Just kidding. I am really transitioning but not because it's what's hot, but because after all these years I have finally developed a greater appreciation for my natural texture. I think more people are doing the same.

Yeah... I think this is true. But I think when a woman has long hair, whic can be 4b, 4c, 3c, anything... it is beautiful to see textures that are different from what you see around. I'm thinking about Sera on youtube. I love length, but on "exotic" women length is just catches my attention, because all those patterns and textures are just spectacular.
I like length and that's why I'm growing my hair,... I see many people stop obsessing about curl or definition when they achieve length, it makes me think that hair is more easy to style when it's longer (think of doing and undoing one braid or a few braids... my dream!)...

Personally, I am addicted to curls because I never thought I (or any other black person) had any. Because my hair was always manipulated/in some stretched state as a child I never knew my hair type. I always just assumed it was 4b, which is great too (I am always in awe of Nonie's pics).

I'm with Pochahantas [sp] I look at You Tube all the time and look for African American women with curly hair. It is truly like hair porn. I just think it's beautiful!! I'm always trying someone's recipe/regimine on my hair. Right now I'm using the tightly curly method by Lisa and I'm loving it. I'll probably switch to something else next month. There's not a 12 step program for this is there???

I'm fascinated because until I came to this board I had no concept or thought that my hair could look like this. I'm a 4a. Other people are fascinated too. Complimenting me, touching my hair, just mesmerized. Who knew, right?

Sometimes I think that there are more 3's and 4a's on the board, so they look for other 3's and 4a's. I personally mostly look at 4b and 4a videos and photos because I feel like I'm more likely to achieve a style that they are able to achieve. I look at 3c's sometimes out of curiosity.

Curly hair - in general - is fascinating because we're so used to seeing straight hair. Curly hair is in the minority when it comes to style preference in our society.

Personally, I'm fascinated with visible, defined curls as well. I'll admit. But I'm just as fascinated with 4Bs. Not 4A/4B mix. Curly (as in natural, not a type) hair is just so beautiful.

To be perfectly honest, I'm just in love with hair... To me healthy hair is good hair, not necessarily "curly" hair...I have heard ppl comment about curly being the new "good" hair but I don't by into that.

I love thick soft well moisturized hair in genera and love kinky curls (cause that's what I have ) but all curls and kinks I love

I'll admit that when I first went natural, I was really fascinated with curls myself! Mostly my own and others that looked like mine. Well actually, I'm still a bit fascinated with curls that look like mine!

I guess I just never realized that our hair could be like that. I figured that if you're hair wasn't 3c, your hair wasn't curly; it was just afro hair. I don't know what I thought that consisted of, but the true capabilities and versatility of our hair; of my own hair, had truly escaped me the vast majority of my life!

I LOVE our hair, all of it!!

And now it's off to watch hair porn on youtube! :yep::grin::lick::lachen:

Though curly hair can be very pretty, I'm addicted to long (WSL or longer) hair. I see curly hair every day, but I don't see Black women with beyond WSL hair every day.

No matter the type, super-long hair is my porn :)
