This time last year I cut my relaxed hair to about one inch on top and tapered in the back. I have decided to let it grow long for the first time since I cut my dreadlocs about 2 yrs ago. My problem - the front is taking forever to grow out of layers! :nono: My back is past my shoulders and my front is only midway my ears! Why do layers take so long to grow out?!:spinning:

I hears ya. I'm growing out layers now from a cut (longest layer being nape length then) a few months ago. my longest layer is SL; my shortest (outside of the bangs i'm growing back) are barely chin level.

But a few years back, I had a cut that sounds kinda similar to yours (it was ear-length at the top and sides and tapered in the back a la rihanna prior to the blonde bob-thing). I wanted to grow it out of the layers (which when growin out was so not cute, specially since my nape grows in slower than a one legged tortoise, so I waited till the back was long enough to get braided, kept my hair braided for a while (about a year or so), then got a blunt cut at just past ear level all around that I loved.
