I remember going through my Soph. Black Hair mag archives a while back because someone wondered if Aaliyah wore a weave...
They have a lot of celeb hair tips. So does Hype Hair and Try It Yourself Hair.
IMO, the ladies on this board have better tips than those magazines. They've gone up to $5 and $6 now! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hi Dionne,

I got the information out of Sophisticates Black Hair Magazine. The information was from her hairdresser (he died also on the plane wit Aaliyah).

If you want to know many of the stars hair routines, you should really start picking up the magazine. I have been collecting them since 1983 and I go back to the old ones sometimes to see some of the stars and singers we don't hear about anymore.

Thanks. I have a couple of the magazines but I hardely ever get the names of the products they use. They sometimes say stuff like use a moisturizing shampoo but I wonder which one. Thanks again

As much as I love Sophisticate's they need to stop lying in their magazine with the models and stars hair methods. Some of them we blatantly know may wear hair pieces or weaves and they write stuff about how the person maintains their midback mane with these products. Yes they have someone attach the pieces in their head!

Hmmm mmmm. Lies, lies, lies. These feature stories are used as “off-the-record” “gratitude” ploys for their advertisers. The magazine rewards their advertisers, sponsors and contributors by featuring their products in these stories. Don’t believe it.

I agree with that because sometimes they recommend products that you just know are not good. Like they say Pink oil moisturiser is the best one out there!!!!

Ain't that the truth. That's why I stopped buying hair magazines a long time ago.

I buy them only to look at the pictures. LD said it best, many of these stars are wearing weaves anyway, so gives a hoot about their regimen!

alot of those stars say the relax, flat iron, curl, and then they say they wear a full weave. thats really stupid and then they wonder why their still wearing a weave.

In the entertainment biz, they had to wear weaves since their stylist frequently iron, curl or do whatever to maintain a certain style, and keep up with the trend. If their hair stylists did all these things to their real hair, these stars would be bald.

So, the weave on their heads is to be fryed, dyed and styled while their real hair is protected.

That also means their hair regimen may be only good for those who wear a weave.

Disclaimer: Please note that I have nothing against weaves.
