Levette,
A semi-permanent will give you the shine you are looking for, but a permanent color will be required to achieve a color that is noticable. I have a permanent color that lifted my hair to a light blond color and then I apply a red/copper rinse to my hair to get the color I want. On top of a relaxer generally this is a harse process. Particularly if your hair is sensitive to peroxide. Mine handles it ok - so between my rinses and diligent care I get by.
Try the semi-permanent first, and if you want something more vibrant then try the permanent. Can't hurt to work you way up to what you want...better that than go overboard right away and end up with a problem on your "strands". /images/graemlins/grin.gif
