Hi mama.....

So - after you went dark after being light for so long and after you determined that you hated it.....
laugh.gif

*** long did it take you to go back light and what did you do to achieve it...

Other methods etc. are welcome (Karonica - I know you done this too gurl!

)

I know what to do, I just want to brainstorm a little with my color buddies and make sure my method is on the the money.....

AND - I want to see if I can avoid the mistake I made last time in going too light at first.

Hey Tracy!

Hmmm... well, I'm trying to remember exactly what I did to go light again.

OK now I remember!! I did it gradually. I started using demi-permanent color in reddish shades, then finally I got tired of it and wanted my hair MUCH lighter, so that's when I used Tex. & Tones for the first time; I saw it at Wal-Mart and I was looking at the pretty colors it came in. And it didn't contain ammonia (

) ... I went home and thought about it for a while (I was REALLY reluctant to EVER use permie color again) but it was just too tempting and I figured w/o ammonia, it would be much less damaging, so I went & got it,but I used Light Golden Brown or something like that.

What's your plan???

Nope. Since I've been light, I've never gone back darker. I've been sporting this color for a few years now. I've done it on my mother though. I dyed her hair with the T&T Honey Blonde and it came out too yellow and brassy in some areas. I then applied a Cinnamon semi-permanent over it by some brand called "Kiss" or something like that, and it was burgundy. After her next perm, the color was gone, and now her hair is light again, but without the brassiness. I mean, one perm, and maybe one shampoo and the color was completely out. So, in this case, I have no clue as to what you can do, although I think Clairol makes some sort of color remover, but I have not clue.

Yes, tell us your plans.

We're on the same page...

I was looking at the T&T Brown because I'm not sure what the Bronze is going to do on such dark hair so I don't want to go there just yet...I just want to gradually lighten. I tried L'Oreal Open last night because of the low ammonia - but it did NOTHING.....

My roots are a little tawny and the rest is still very dark brown... UGH!

I plan or trying again in a week or two...

How long did you wait between colorings? Demi-perm and otherwise and how many tries did it take before you got it to "pull" (or lighten) enough to have a good base for the Bronze T&T?

I had the same problem with l'Oreal Open. I tried 2 weeks ago cinnamon brown and my hair looks the same except my few gray hairs are cinnamon brown instead of my usual dark brown. I am in search of another dye myself also.

Well - here's a lesson I learned - DO NOT DISREGARD your strand test....

I did a strand test with Open and there was no change. I used it anyway and there was

no change!

I bought Revlon Colorsilk yesterday because it was cheap

and because it also has no Ammonia....I did a strand test and my color remained the same - so I didn't use it...

I think I'm going to have to go the same route as I did before Lindy - but I want to treat my hair some more before I try again. I think the Open was more drying than I thought it'd be. It's "low" ammonia and not "no" ammonia - so maybe that's why. But I don't think this black is going to pull without a booster - which means blond T&T first maybe....

I might try a strand test with the Bronze first tho....see what happens....

Oh jeez Tracy!! BE CAREFUL, girl!! You don't want to end up with dried out, damaged hair from too much color. Are you really not liking the darker color at all??? I thought you were getting used to it?? What you used (to get it dark) was a demi-permanent, right?? Would Metallex take that color out, or not? Maybe you could try that before using the lighter color.

I was looking through my photo albums this morning, cuz I honestly could not remember how long I kept my hair dark for, but WOW... judging from the pictures it was maybe about two whole years!! It wasn't DARK DARK though... I was using coppery, reddish brown demi-permanent, so that did lift my hair some. I think that even the first time I used the Tex. & Tones Light Brown, it didn't lift my hair all that much!!

Later on, I'm going to try to add some pictures of my dark hair, and also some pics of my hair when I had cut it real short, to my hair journey album. It's weird but in some pictures I really like my hair dark, but it others it's like
barf.gif
It's only been a little over a year that I've had my hair as light as it is now... and I notice that it seems to get lighter with every color touchup.
smile.gif
I may have to switch to a darker (maybe light brown) color soon.

Oh, I did a touchup on my color (the demi) every 3 months or so.

I will be careful chica...:) thank you....

I like the darker color sort of - but I look MUCH better with lighter hair...I just do.

I've gone this route a few times and ruined my hair and I've gone it a few times and had great results so I'm just trying to piece together from my memory and those who have walked this road before me!
laugh.gif

I know this can be done, but I think if I remember correctly that first frontal pic I took of my colored hair is the first time I had gotten it right going from very dark to rather light.....and it was blond, with a booster, and a little heat that sealed the deal.

I'm definitely going to wait a while before I do anything else.

And I'm going to try the Metalex - as you suggested - both as a treatment and as an attempt to lift any color that can be lifted before I try to go light again....

My hair is REALY dark and REALLY porous and I have a feeling that Metalex is gonna be saying NUTHIN to this dark brown....

Please do add you pics for me....
