I have been using a henna conditioning process that loosens the curls. Would you care to share what you were talking about in the recent post about the new Naturalaxer? How are you using the henna? Thank you. Bonjour.

Well Basically, when I started to use henna I notice that it did loosen the hair just a bit, the hair has a much softer feel to it, the best way I can describe it is, less frizzy. I can put my hair into a bun with out struggling like i used to before henna, I guess it is the smoothing action of Hennatannic acid. BTW I added Vitamin C crystals to my mixture. I have this Bling Bling thing going on now, I will press my hair soon to see the full effect. It gets better with each application.
My recipe:
Rainbow Persian Red Henna 4 oz.
Avocado oil with castor oil
Rosemary e.o.
and Vitamin C crystals.
The newgrowth is a nice Mahogany, deep wood cherry color (you know that wood with a hint of red in it for furniture).I am growing out my black semi-permanant color.
I wish I had known about henna before hand. I can just rinse "NO poo method" and I am tempted to skip the conditioner because it is just THAT soft. But I use the Jasons Henna Condtioner to keep up the moisture and highlights. I used it also to rinse the last bit of henna out also. It is also a good detangler for my hair, the cuticles are smooth. I am reeeaaally loving this!!!

What I do about 1x-2x a month is use the following: A package of Neutral (no color) natural Henna.
I boil bottled water then add the following whole herbs- Note: I steep the herbs in the boiled water...I do not boil the herbs. >> 4 tbls. each cornsilk; hibiscus flowers; whole sage; whole rosemary: I do this in a special tea kettle for this purpose...then I strain the herbal water into a glass jar, making sure that I am left with a clear liquid that I add to the henna until I have a pancake mixture. To thicken this, I add a couple of tablespoons of brewers yeast. (This creates a no drip henna batter and the yeast is great for the hair.)To this I add 1/c cup of a combination of Palma Christi (Castor Oil); a rich leave in conditioner and extra virgin olive oil. I apply to clean, multi parted hair that is slightly damp, and then cover with a plastic bag, and a heating cap for about 2 hours. ( I have a microwavable cap and I just reheat it every half hour.) Hope this works for you. I find it to be a great conditioner and eliminates a lot of tangling and knotting from the hair and gives a great sheen and shine to the hair shaft. Bonjour. I have experienced no dryness and have used as many as 7 of these conditioning treatments in the last 3 months. I add a different variety of essential oils to each batch, like ylang ylang, lavender, clove, or else a tablespoon of coffee because I love the scents. One day I will add a vanilla essence to it. I follow the henna treatment up with a shampoo, AVC rinse, a conditioner with olive oil to the whole head of hair and leave for about 1/2 hour under a plastci bag and then rinse and wrap the hair. /images/graemlins/look.gif /images/graemlins/lick.gif Oh yes, it does continually loosen the curl some, even from the first time. Plus it gives weight to the hair so that it hangs better.

Hmm that sounds like a yummy recipe.
I was going to try to add in some nettles and horsetail in my hot water also next time. I love experimenting with this stuff to see what works. Yes the hair does hang heavier. And after a good wash, doesn't dry out so fast. I just wish I had "discovered" henna earlier then I would not have had to cut my hair up, it was acting weird. But I think this is my Eureka moment in hair care and growth. (I would have been waist length this spring. /images/graemlins/frown.gif
