Hi ladies...I'm a newbie
wave.gif
, with 4C hair (that class should be included!). I've been reading the boards for a while, and I've gained a wealth of information, thanks to all of you. However I still have major breakage, and I'd like to protect/grow with crochet braids (with loose hair as opposed to the braided hair). What I want to know is, how long does this style last on average, and will it be easy to moisturize my own hair with some kind of spray since it will be hidden under the extensions? And lastly, is there a particular way to cornrow the hair? Oh, and also what hair extension types are best for this style?
Thanks a lot...sorry it's so long - i tend to ramble a lot...

I am a 4a/b natural and I have crochet/interlock braids right now. I used loose hair..called binding twist that looks like 3a/b/ hair. By the time I take this hair out it would have been in 14 weeks. If taken care of it lasts 4 months. It's very easy to part and spray or wash your scalp. I cornrow front to back..about 12-13 of them. The hair I use looks like this one:

I'll post pics of how it looks on a person later tonight or tomorrow. HTH!

Thanks Faith...one more question...does the hair slip out? Did you do something extra to secure it in after looping?

Nope! I have never had one slip out. My mom uses the same hair and has never had that problem either. The only ones I secure twice are the double ones(some areas I use 2 strands of hair instead of one)...I just knot those 2x otherwise I just knot them once...and that's it.

Ok! I posted the pic of the wavy interlocks..under my Interlocks folder...click on my link (below). HTH!

Thanks for posting the pics Faith. Your braids look lovely - which color did you use, and was it the binding twist? Mine came out succesfully, thanks to you and all who gave me the help

I love the new crochet pics, Faith.

PS- Once the hair is through the cornrow, do you have problems getting the knot to stay put after tying, or does it all depend on the hair? The kind I had one time would not stay put for nothing.

Thanks karonica

I do have a semi-hard time getting it to stay put but it never comes completely undone. Maybe try knotting it 2x.

WOW love the interlocks! can you tell me where you can get that hair on-line or hair like it. I want to interlock with something other than braid extensions I've seen corkscrew hair and it was beautiful but I can't find the hair! Thanks!

I believe I saw that particular kind at abantu.com. I didn't buy my hair online though. You can also pm Faith and ask her where she got hers.

your welcome, it really is, I can't wait till my hair gets that way, by then your hair would be floor length.
