I was hoping to get some advice from you. I noticed on your pics that you were experimenting with highlighting. What brands and colors are you using? I want my hightlights to look like yours and we look like we have similar hair texture. How are you applying the color?

I'm just itching to try something new, I haven't had highlights in over a year and I don't trust anyone other than my hair dresser in VA to do it. I also noticed that you are growing out layers too, I'm so frustrated with mine I'm thinking of just having it cut all one length. It's tapered into a V in the back (it's funny, cause I never asked for my hair to be cut that way-it never ceases to amaze me that stylists cut your hair they way THEY think it will look good). Meanwhile, it's a pain in the butt, cause I want it all one length. But I would definitely appreciate some tips since I've never highlighted my own hair. Thanks!

Hi, MissM! I'll be glad to help in any way I can. Funny you should "page" me today, because I'm doing a little "experimenting" tonight before heading out for the holidays.

I'm using Textures & Tones Permanent Haircolor and an Adore semi-permanent rinse on top (I have the rinse in my hair right now).

Unfortunately, I may not be able to post results tonight..it's so late already...but when I get back after Xmas I'll be sure to let you know how it came out.

Hold tight! Don't do anything drastic!! I've taken many little "baby steps" in my quest to highlight my own hair.

BTW, if you don't have it already, Shamboosie's book (see the link to Amazon.com from the home page of this site) has GREAT information about color. [That's the most worthwhile section of his whole book, in my opinion.]

Check it out.

Happy Holidays! Talk to you soon. /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif
