I'm new to this forum and am just soaking up all this wonderful information, but am just OVERWHELMED! I can't tell you how many times I've gone, ooh, I've got to try this, or I've got to try that, I've got to buy some of this or that. There is just so much here, how does everyone decide what to try when and for how long before moving on to something else? A sista could go broke trying to buy up some products!

Welcome!!!

I know exactly what you mean. I have overstock of V05 conditioners in my closet

I was the same way at first, then once I found products that I really liked on my hair I started a wish list so once I finished a moist conditioner I may try a new one that got rave reviews.

I probably would not have found some of my favorite products if I wasn't on LHCF like Neutrogena Triple Moisture line (NTM) or Aubrey's GPB conditioner....and PHYTO relaxer.

I think I finally got the spending "under control"

Happy Hair Growing!

Been there; done that! I know how you feel, Kaygirl. My hubby helped me with my decision to cut back on purchasing products...he threatened to leave me. :lachen: I'm down to only MTG and Sulfur 8 hair grease. :ohwell:

Welcome to the Board! Be prepared to get seriously educated about hair care. I think its OK to experiment with different stuff a little because that's the only way to know if something will work for you or not. I try to keep it simple, but it's hard not to be a PJ on this board . . .

Welcome, Welcome . . .

I know how ya feeling Kay. I was a SERIOUS pj when I first found this site :D . You'll just have to learn to pay special attention to what you hair likes, how it acts differently from another, etc, etc...

My suggestion would be to first know what it is your looking for.
Ex. Are you looking for slip (easy detangling)? More strength to hair? Are natural or relaxed? Shine? Moisture? Etc...
These things will guide you.
If you find yourself getting straped for cash, as I'm sure you will  .
Dont forget about trying to order samples, or look for someone who willing to sellor give products they have used and didnt like on the swap board.

Thanks guys for your responses. I'm working my way through all the info.

lkg4healthyhair, your hair looks really healthy, so of course I've got to get me some Neutrogena. I'm also going to do a search on PHYTO relaxer, which I'm sure will result into adding to my list of "I've got to's."

PittiPat, your reason for stopping made me laugh and it's a very good reason to stop. Now, I've got to do a search on MTG which of course will result into adding to my list of "I've got to's." Oh Lawd, the list just goes on, and on, and on! Help me!

Yes, yes, yes I got very carried away at first buying this and buying that and not getting the same results as others. Now I try to see what type hair a person has before I invest my hard earned monies into a product. I have a lot of misses and very few hits in my bathroom cabinet as a result of my buying frenzy. My husband who is usually has nothing to say about my hair-unless I really mess it up-told me the other day it looks like a beauty shop store in our bathroom. So now I have gone back, no stopped buying anything until I use up some of the stuff I have already brought. The really funny thing is, I picked up some Suave Milk and Honey shampoo and conditioner for my daughter and like it so much I got some for myself. Now imagine I have a beauty $hop in my bathroom and I am now using the cheapest product on the market-go figure.
Oh, and the fact that I can't afford to spend $60 on a relaxer kit. :look:
But this board is the bomb, I love it.

Thanks that was after my first PHTO relaxer.

I think Surge 14 was my first must have....

I did the same thing! :D At one point my sister was over at my house shopping for hair stuffs ! Now ya know you've overdone it when folks come over to YOUR PLACE to get what they need :ohwell:

You'll definitely calm down a little after you find some stuff you really like.

Besides, I've learned there is no way for me to try every single product listed on this board, so I decided to stop trying! And I get tired of running to get something just b/c someone else likes it, and then it doesn't work for me.

I must admit I found NTM and Surge (great detangler) through this board and I think I will stick with them for a while.

Welcome :newbie:. I have been in your shoes and after a while you will become a smarter shopper. So slow down and really look into what your hair responds best to.

Girl, I thought it would get easier but I STILL am a PJ! It is a little overwhelming, but like the ladies said, you will learn what your hair likes and doesn't. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the site. Pittigirl, Mtg and sulfur 8 are all u need! best hair growth products there! :notworthy

kaygirl...WELCOME ABOARD!!!

I was overwhelmed as well when I first joined last year... now, I'm even MORE overwhelmed than before... I'm just urgent to grow my hair back out after doing the big chop (I cut off all my relaxed ends to go natural).

Enjoy! :)

You're not alone. I was the exact same way, it gets better :)

After I found the products that my hair responded to, I stopped trying so many other things. Plus, you'll find that the less you do the more your hair will thank you. Don't send your hair into shock with tons of new things...take it easy--no matter how hard it may be

And if that doesn't help....just visit us over in the Off Topic forum where we don't talk about hair products
