Ok I tried searching on the threads, but I'm still not understanding if this is a protein conditioner or not? I don't want anything too serious. So do you ladies think this will work as a protein conditioner?

Not sure, but I just bought it yesterday, and it is as thick as a protein conditioner (if you are looking for something to coat and protect your hair).

Yes, its a protein conditioner. It contains keratin and collagen. It leaves my hair very shiny and smooth.

I bought some this weekend and am a little confused on how to use it. The impression I get from those that use it here is that they use it as a leave in conditioner/moisturizer. The instructions say apply wrap in plastic for so many minutes and then rinse it also say use can use a dallop and apply to whole head, but the thing is a dallop will only cover a fourth of nappy a** hair. I bought it because I was looking for a good leave in. Please advise.

I just left mine on for 2 hours and then washed it out.. I'm scared to use it as a leave in because it seems really heavy.

I would say it is more of a deep conditioner that has both protein and moisturizing ingredients. I use mine as a moisturizer sometimes and it does a wonderful job.

I love Africa's Best Hair Mayonaise, I am so mad that I didn't buy more of it, when Target had it for $.98!!!! I thought they were discontinuing it then and were sure to have more at that price, now it's back to being $4

Does it leave residue in your hair?
