I use extra virgin olive oil(evoo) every week for my hot oil treatments. I just warm some up, give my scalp a nice stimulating massage for about 10 minutes and then apply it to the rest of my hair. I leave it on for a minimum of 30 minutes. Evoo is excellent as it helps repair damaged cuticles, protects your hair from the elements, and leaves a very nice, natural looking sheen/shine. U don't get the same affect with regular olive oil or with some of the lighter oils, such as jojoba for the hot oil treatments. I also mix it in with my moisturizing or deep conditioner sometimes for when my hair is feeling particularly dry.
U can use it as a moisturizer too as needed, especially for the ends and shafts of your hair, provided it's not too heavy for you. If it is then give coconut, jojoba or some of the other lighter oils a try.
I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the same way! I was exposed to the wonderful benefits of Olive Oil from some of my family... it has been used for hair and skin for years in other countries.
I use extra virgin olive oil (cold pressed) for weekly hot oil treatments. Sometimes I mix other oils with it, and sometimes I use my favorite coconut oil. However, olive oil thickens my hair which is my aim...it works great!

Hey Angel,
Cheers to that!
It is has become a permanent staple for me and the best thing about it? Available everywhere!
Nessa, It does help prevent breakage and to balance the oils in your scalp, but it's not used as thickener, unless someone says otherwise. But there are other products u can use to thicken your hair.
And one more question. If it balace the oils in the scalp is that good? I mean does it um um make it similar to Jojoba? And it helps the scalp maintain a normal amount of sebumm?
