Hey everyone, a while back I used EVOO as a pretreatment and it dried out my hair and made it greasy... Has this ever happened to anyone else? Should I try a different kind or specific brand? What benefits do you get from using it? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem when I tried that, I just never resorted back to using it as a pre-treat. I used it to mix with water and spray on my hair, for moisture.

Sounds like you may need that shampoo treatment called Porosity control? I think thats the name of it. It may help your hair asborb the moisture instead of having the oil just sit on it...

try again...after using the Porosity control and see what happens..

wow, olive oil does wonders for my hair. I had really dry hair that wouldn't retain moisture too well, olive oil helped keep the moisture in :) Did you mix it with a good deep conditioner? Usually i'll put a few tablespoons in my conditioner and leave it in for 2hrs.

this happened to me... i wound up taking some Suave coconut condish and honey... and it helped alot. EVOO.. never really did much for me.

Try Dabur Vatika as a pre treatment....and if you have a steamer, do an oil steam......so wash and condition you hair as normal and then apply your favorite oil and sit under a steamer for about 30 minutes and rinse off with warm water....Makes your hair very soft.

If your hair doesn't like oil pre-treatments....try oil post treatment.:)

Maybe it was the brand, I once went into the store to get some EVOO, but I read the ingredients and it was Vegetable Oil mixed with Olive Oil. I didn't buy it, but since I've been cautious. I hope things work out well for you.

The first time I tried EVOO as a hot oil tratment that happened to me too. I think I used to much. I plan to try it again and see if my natural hair will respond differently, and of course plan to use less oil :look:

I tried it on my hair by itself and it was weird like that.

However, I mix it with a cheapie condish like VO5 as a pre-poo with much better results.
