Oldies but goodies

Hey ladies.

It's so funny how some of these hair products have been around for so long. I was talking to my mom the other day. She was a licensed beautician back in the day (70's and 80's).

I was talking to her on the phone a few weeks ago and was telling her about LHCF and about some of the products that you ladies have recommened.

She had me dying because I was telling her about henna and how I was thinking about eventually using it. She said, "They still using henna?" I just looked at the phone. She said, "Yeah. We were using henna way back in the day."

I told her that I was concerned about the ends of my hair being dry. She said, "Maybe you should baggy your ends." :lachen:

Then I was telling her that I was trying to get my hair back together in general. She told me to use Porosity Control and Conditioner and then use Fermodyl.

Another time she told me I could do an ACV wash and deep condition with LeKair Cholesterol conditioner. She also told me to make sure I use a leave in like Infusium.

She also told me to use Vitapoint if/when I flat iron.

It was just too funny b/c when she was doing hair, I never paid attention to the products that she was using. When I think I'm telling her something new she's telling me it's old.:lachen: Too funny.

I'm just bored and "thinking out loud."

Are there any oldies but goodies that you ladies are using?

Wow it sounds like your mom is a real hair diva just like how we roll here at LHCF!! :lachen:

Vitapointe is probably one of my favorites, I use it for shine. Henna is a biggie too since it goes waaaaaay back thousands of years. :drunk:

LeKair never goes outta style in my book either!

i guess it is only the hair products manufacturing companies that fooling us younger generation with their crap.... wow.

come to think of it, i remember my cousin baby sitting me while she did hair i used to hold the hose when she was at the sink..and hand her the rollers.. lol, i remember her telling this woman her hair was dry. shampooed her hair then, put a jojoba hot oil treatment on the hair, and put her under a heat cap. after that she rinsed the hair with warm water, used conditioner on the woman's hair, to detangle it with the hugest comb i ever saw, rollerset and then used vitapointe before styling... wow i remember all that.. i have to do that to my hair when i take out my braids......

That brought back memories. I used to use that one (although I don't think it was pure jojoba, got it from the bss). But I used to use Henna (BAQ from the bss) in JHS and HS. Sulphur 8, my mom used to use on me when I had damaged my hair by doing it myself. And good ole no direct heat, my mom never used a blow dryer on my hair. She would wash, condition, and then plait my hair in about 12 or more braids and then send me outside.

But I do get a kick out of reading the really old threads when they rave about things that we are raving about today (i.e. amla oil, etc.).

Oh snap!!!
I forgot about Roux!! Thats from the dinosaur time when everybody knew how to use a pressing comb. Ampro is really old too- My mom used the pressing oil that had the nerve to come in a tin can!!:nono:(LOL)

Was it the blue and white can? My mom used that briefly as well. She didn't like the feel of it.

I swear. If I could go back to my mom doing my hair I would. LOL.

Now you're taking me back. We definitely were doing the airdry when I grew up - no blowdryers.

My mom AND my sister put me on blast when I was telling them about my new hair goodies.

Mom is 57 years old and she said she was using Fermodyl Wayy back in the day too. As well as Vitapointe. She said "That's what you are all hyped up about? That's old news!..."
