I found a link to an old hair care article. I thought it was interesting because it offers much of the same knowledge we have about caring for our hair today.

If only I had discovered this article way back then. :wallbash:

If I had seen this article when it first came out I wouldn't have listened. I had to hair my hair looking crazy before I was ready to make a change.

Great article, thanks for the link.

Confirms something I'd been wondering about (protective styling at shoulder length reducing breakage...)

Great article. It sums everything up.

It a great article to give to friends and family who want take better care or grow their hair.

Intresting...thanks for posting the link! Basically it's almost the same information that I've picked up here on this board.

Thanks for the article, SVT. :)

I remember reading this article when it came out, and following the article's suggestions, including getting frequent trims, in the mistaken belief that it would help me gain length :p - glad I cut that out! That's what got me to start wearing a silk scarf to bed and wrapping my hair to avoid constant heat tools, but I remember wondering how that one woman was able to only use a curling iron for emergencies. I didn't know how to get curls w/o a curling iron. Thank goodness I found internet hair boards geared toward Black women b/c I learned about wet sets/rollersets, and a whole host of products that turned my hair around w/in a matter of weeks.

I tore that article out of the magazine back when it came out (I was a college freshman). I still have the paper copy in my files!

I really enjoyed reading that article. Even though I hear some of the same things all the time, I still learn more and more! Thanks for sharing!!! :yep:

OMG!!! I still have that article!!! LOL I'm so old, I was 24 back then...and I took most of that advice :)
My friend actually commented that my hair is waist length now, although IMO it should grow about 2 more centimetres. The advice in that article is more or less all you need to know to grow your hair long. Enjoy the journey, ladies.

I'm glad you all liked the article. :)

The article is one more indicator that many of us are doing the right things with our hair because we're doing what's already been done and getting good results.

The old advice combined or updated with a couple of current suggestions would make a great beginner's manual. :sekret:

this is a great article. i need to send it to a few of my *ahem* bald headed friends

Ditto! they sure need this. they won't listen though. i wouldn't have either back then.

This was a good article. When my hair was permed, I used to go to Bill Lawrence. He was very expensive, but did a really good job on my hair.
