Is it just me?? I've been having breakage, but my hair has no splits and its growing well. I don't see any breakage no where in my head. But, I have broken ends mixed in with shedding when I comb my hair . This is everyday too, I see these pieces of hair with no bulb on the end. I have now just accepted this as normal and it happens to everybody . But, now I'm rethinking that maybe I need to step my game up. Can somebody let me know what's up?? Is it just me, or do you have that same thing going on??

I have this problem too. I don't think that I need a protein treatment. Those aren't very good for my hair. I did use a reconstructor though last week. Could your breakage be in the front? Mine is definately in the front and I think that it is because of how I wear my hair back or treat my hair in the front. Maybe I put more stress on that hair? Once we get the answer, we'll have to become hair buddies to encourage one another. It won't do me any good to have bra strap length hair in the back but broken off hair in the front. That isn't cute.

My hair has been dry and breaking since the summer started. I did a couple protien treatments and that didn't help. Then, I started use ghee in it prior to shampooing or condition washes for a few hours. It has helped a lot. There wasa thread on it about a yr ago.

Last week I got a "trim" and my hair has been shedding more that normal. I've just been surging and conditioner washing hoping it will end. This weekend I'll be applying MTG and sitting under a heating cap to see if that will help.

do you use heat in your hair? if so then you prob need to take a break from it. Try conditioner washes and deep condition your hair with a mild protein treatment like motions CPR. That should do the trick . HTH

Girl I don't know what it is But, I'm pulling on it lightweight and I see really nothing but a few broken pieces, its hydrated, also a few sheds. I don't put heat in it like I was, maybe that's the culprit. Is ORS a mild protein treatment as well? I don't like CPR. Thanks.

Here's my reg:
1. Wash 2-3 x's a week with Creme of Nature Shampoo, one shampoo.
2. Condition in shower comb through, leave in for only 5-10 minutes, no cap, with ORS once a week, otherwise I Condition with Miss Key en 10.
3. If I flatiron, its 1-2 times a week. I'll add in Mizani thermal protectant, or Soft n Beautiful thermal protectant, while my hair is wet, comb through with huge comb and air dry. Very rare I'll add in some EVOO. I was pressing it 1-2 a week for a month with no pressing creme.
4. I'll comb out with huge/shower comb after I rinsed out conditioner.
5. Add in some EVOO, not too much and make sure I get the ends too.
6. Let it air dry. Once dry that's pretty much it. I wear it mostly down, or clipped up loosely.
7. I sleep with a satin cap, everynight.
8. I eat lots of protein. Drink lots of water.
9. I sleep on my stomach or sides, but the breakage primarily is in the back on the ends.

One of the things that I have noticed (at least with me) ANY Creme of Nature Shampoo is that it is very drying to my hair. I stop using it after one use of a quarter size amount. This shampoo has alot of alcohol in it. I use a clarifing conditioner like V05 Kiwi & Lime Herbal Conditioner. If I must shampoo ( to remove build up), I will add Olive or Jojoba oil to the shampoo once every two weeks. I also, only shampoo once ( not 3 times to get the hair clean). You don't want to strip your hair of all its natural oils.

Once or twice a week may not seem like much but within a month's time that is a lot of heat. You may want to try twist out's or braid out's. This will give your hair waves with out rollers, it will give your hair a chance to rest without heat, and the style may last from 3 days to a week.

How are you pressing your hair ? Any heat applicance will damage your hair ( including the ends which is the oldest part of your hair) making the hair brittle (even with the heat protectant...plz be careful). Try light protein treatments. This should strengthen the ends and hopefully slow the breakage.

You may also want to try a leave-in conditioner during the day. One thing that we may not think about is the environmental factors that act on our hair. Summer and Winter our hair experiences extreme temperatures changes. Air conditioning, debris (inside building or outside in the air), heating during the winter and the extreme cold weather. Just something to think about as the weather changes.

Another thing you may want to try using Olive oil on your ends at nite. This will soak into the ends of your hair while you sleep. HTH

I agree with blacktresses that HEAT 1-2 times a week may be the culprit, even the best thermal protection cannot totally avoid damage, merely reduce the damage, but over time, it adds up and the little pieces you see will prevent growth retention, therefore, harder to keep your length.

I've learned the hard way that my 4b relaxed hair cannot take heat, period. I tried every which way but loose to get around this and in the end, I totally eliminated heat, which was the HARDEST thing for me to do 'cause I love to wear my hair loose and bouncy, swinging in the wind and the fastest way to get there is a blowdryer, flat iron or rollerset under hood dryer. It's been 1 year since I gave up heat and I've retained 3 inches in that time, hitting brastrap my last touchup earlier this monthh. I continue to wear my hair out and swinging and bouncy everyday -- I rollerset and dry under hood dryer on *cool* setting and get same bounce and body as with heat -- only thing, it takes me 3 hours to dry on cool, rather than the 1 hour with heat. It's been a small sacrifice well worth every minute under the dryer. Also, because it takes 3 hours to dry, I only wash once a week 'cause no time to do more often than that and I found that washing less and eliminating heat = growth retention and fabulous body. Wow, loooong response that I hope helps . . .

I read Cream of Nature Shampoo ingredients but I didn't see where it said alcohol, can you tell me the alternative name of alcohol cause they slipped that one right by me. But, I believe you when you say its in there. These product makers are so sneaky, I think its a conspiracy to keep Black women bald-headed so we can keep buying wigs/pieces by slipping these bad products on us.

Yeah, I stopped using heat for a while and had great results, that heat will catch up with you later than sooner. So, I'm through with that one.
But, the braid/twist outs I gotta start this one, how is it done?? Oh yeah what's a good light protein treatment?

Oh yeah when I was pressing it, I was flipping my ends, (crazy).

Whats a good leave in conditioner?? Thanks for the EVOO tip (well all the tips) at night, gotta do this one.
