I'm newly natural and I did the BC March 25, 2010, I wouldn't trade my decision for anything! It was the most freeing feeling. I've been doing the wash and go thing and I also wash with conditioner, I use Suave naturals and Bed Head, I've adopted the curly girl method, but I haven't been able to get my curls to pop :( I've come to grips with the fact that maybe curls are not my natural texture and that's okay, I heart my fro :) But I just can't seem to get rid of my dry scalp, mind you I wash my hair everyday, what am I doing wrong sistahs????

it took me a while to find products that give me the results i wanted..it took mw a while to find outt that my 3c hair was just frizzy instead of 4a lol..when i do my wash and go`s, i used to just use conditioner..wich gave me frizzy, bushy hair in a few hours and dry scalp..now i do a mix of cantu leave in, garnier sleek and shine anti-humidity smoothing milk, and oil. that leaves my hair soft and shiny, frizz free, and second to third day curls..depending on the way i sleep lol

i also use grease sometimes,,i kno thats a no no to most but it got me to WL as a child..if it aint broke dont fix it lol

lol thanks gurl, I know it's just a matter of trying things out, but I'm so tired to buying so many products!!! My goodness, I love cleaning my hair but I'm gonna have to find an alternative to all this washing I think oils might help, maybe at night???? Do you give yourself hot oil treatments?

i personally dont because it leaves my hair TOO oily.but i kno it works for a lot of ppl..i kno what u mean about buying so many products! i made a spread sheet of all the products i have , what they claim to do, and if they actually work..once i saw how long it was gonna take me to log all that in i knew i had a major issue lol.

ive learned from this forum to read the ingredients and know what they mean and what they actually do to your hair..some products that arent specially formulated for ethnic hair are designed to dry out the hair.."normal" hair, as they call it, gets oily really fast so their products usually contain a bunch of alcohols.

lol, i know I've been trying to keep up with these ingredients but man! I'm doing the curly girl method no poo and no cones, hopefully I can figure this thing out! :)

How many times do you co-wash? When was your last wash?

I think you should co-wash less or apply an oil to your scalp.

oil! is the cure! do a hot oil treatment regularly at least once a week before ur regular wash regimen. i would suggest a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and tea tree oil that did wonders on my head. i once had a really dry scalp especially in the front and it would itch like crazy! so i just made that concoction and eventually over time it disappered! i suggested do a hot oil treatment before ur regular wash regimen so your hair wont be so oily, but your not washing away the effects of the hot oil!

hope this helped some!

OH and im going to add DONT FEAR SHAMPOO!!, when used correctly it can do wonders for ur hair! i adopted kimmay tubes(a regular youtuber if ur not familiar) regimen in which she uses shampoo and it does wonders for my hair! cowashing is good but shampooing is also benefitial its there for a reason! lol

This advice is great, blueberry I cowash EVERYDAY (i know)... but it feels so GOOD to wash my hair everyday, and agar I need to adopt a hot oil treatment at least once a week, where do you get tea tree oil by itself?

For my scalp I shampoo with things that have tea tree oil. I try to avoid getting conditioners on my scalp but I do use some oils here and there. Also just because it has no cones doesn't mean you can't have build up. Try clarifying every once in a while.

my advice would be to wash your hair one day and let it air dry so you can know how your hair behaves sans product, type your hair [wet], research your hair type, accept it, love it, and understand YOUR hair's specific needs to give it the proper TLC. once i did this it was much easier to understand my hair problems and what resutlt i wanted to achieve..it was also much easier to weed through the products..my hair behaves a lot better now :yep:

yepp!! i pre poo with evoo, rinse, then shampoo and condition before washing the poo out..if feels great afterwards...so friggen soft i cant believe it! then i deep condition if needed. i had to do it a couple times just to see if it was really working lol

Yeah, I think it from washing daily. There are some anti-itch spray out there. Just make sure you get one that does not contain drying alcohol or mineral.
