Ok i've just used the DR line on its own (no mixing or other pre-poos) IT WORKS!!!!
I washed first with the Aveda DR shampoo, put in the conditioner rinsed out after 10 mins and then put the treatment and DC-ed for about half an hour, my DRY hair's still moisturised (I'm natural with dryness issues) and the strands feel smooth! I haven't applied ANY leave ins my hair doesn't feel like it needs it.
I'll use this once a week just so and CW with my lustrasilk the rest of the week. Thanks ladies for pushing me off the edge and into the store with this one
I'm glad it worked out for you this time. :) xx

I took my first pass at my newly purchased Aveda products yesterday. I used the DR Intensive treatment following the Sap Moss shampoo and conditioner I left it on for the time recomended on the package. My hair didn't like it, it became hard and rough and very angry looking, I'm thinking it was probably too much protein for me  . The sales girl said that I could incorporate the treatment with the Sap Moss system, maybe I should have just 'pooed with the SM then used the treatment. I'm going to try the Sap Moss system again next weekend without the treatment and see how that goes. Looks like the intensive treatment is going back to the store.

I have heard many people say that the Sap Moss conditioner isn't very moisturizing. I have not, however, heard that about the DR line. HTH! :)

I think you should give it another try, only next time using just the Aveda products so you can get the full effect of it. Did you get the DR poo too?

This is what I was going to suggest.

I'm natural and I use aveda dr a lot of naturals use aveda products, let me give you my tips,

First shampoo with dr poo
Next Clarify how ever you like I mix 2 tablespoon of baking soda with 2 cups of water
Then add the intensive for as long as you like
Next rinse and add dr con for 2 min,
Rinse and add your leave ins like normal..
Aveda products are made to use in a system the reps always make sure to tell you use them together it works at its best hth

Guess who wouldnt the above steps be overkill? i have 4B nat hair that really tangles so bad...and im thinking pooing and clarify would make my hair a matted mess... what u think?
Thanks

I have been using Aveda DR for a month or two now and I clarify w/ Aveda Detox, Shampoo DR, Conditoner DR, and then the treatment for 2-5mins in the shower. On days I deep condition I dont use the conditioner nor the treatment. Let us know how the next wash comes out. I bet you will see a difference when u use all the Aveda products.

I will let u know...thanks

OT: your whole ensemble (mariah Carey ..:) is off da hook!
FIERCEEEEEE!!!!

NO its not overkill water and baking soda isn't harsh on my hair, and the dr poo is moisturizing, I poo once and then pour the watery mixture over my hair and the rinse it out, my hair feels so soft after that then I add my intensive treatment for at least 30mins and then rinse and add the dr con the rep told me the intensive works better on hair that is absolutely free from anything even shampoos that's why she said to clarify after shampooing with aveda and it works like a charm best believe it! And I've tried it all different ways and this way is definitely a keeper without a doubt.

Shampoo and then clarify? Wouldn't you want to clarify 1st, since sometimes clarifying can be stripping and then poo with DR?

No I don't want to clarify first and then poo! I want my hair free from all product including the moisturizing dr poo, I was told to have my hair naked, that's the words of the rep, and she sure knows what she's talking about because that way worked the best for ME! Everyone should find there way with what works for them concerning these products, I'm suggesting this way because this is what I was TOLD from the rep, and I LOVE the results in this way, as I said earlier I've tried the other ways this way just works for me and I'm natural 4a with 4bs and some 3s up in here hth! :)

Shoot...I wish I had read ur reply b4 i started My 2nd Aveda wash experiment:) ...im getting ready to wash out the intensive treatment...but most def for my 3rd wash i will clarify with baking soda and water (ur suggestions) and compare results....Thank you so much

rinsed off treatment...added elixir leave in ...put about 8 plaits in hair and sealed with castor oil( the only non aveda product i used for this wash)...will airdry this way...so far...really good...hair is soft and no tangly balls of hair on my hands when i added leave in....plus there's practically no hair in the sink:eek:
Ill let y'all know how my hair feels when i unravel these plaits tomorrow in prep for my twisties...Thank you Ladies for ur lovely suggestions...y'all the BEST!!!!

So i unravelled the braids and my hair is sooooo soft....( i just need to work on my dryness issues) i put twists in my hair yesterday (no extensions) ...after doing the twists...i put my Giovanni leave in and sealed with castor oil...then baggyed my whole head....i think its a keeper....plus the poo...didnt tangle my thin, fine strands:eek:
