What do I do???

I'm so tried of washing my hair every 2 days because of the freaking flakes! Is there some kind of shampoo out there for bad dandraff. I do Moisturize and I still get it. I didn't have flakes until early August of last year when I wasa in Orlando for 2 weeks.....Please HELP ME.

I'm about to go crazy...

How is your diet? Has it changed since being in Orlando? Are you drinking all your water?
ETA: Taking your flaxseed oil daily may be of help also.

What moisturizers/oils are you uing on your hair and scalp? You may be allergic to something. Did you begin using a new product when you first noticed the flakes?

No I've actually been more water since Orlando.I think it's the Orlando water because I washed my hair down their twice.

Right now I'm using NTM Tripe Moisture Leave-In and Kid's Organics Shea Butter. When I was in Orlando I used Elasta QP Shampoo, Conditioner, and Moisturizer and that was my first time using it.

Nizoral shampoo worked wonders for me.... You can buy it over the counter at any pharmacy for no more than $10.

Macherieamour uses a Dry & Itchy Scalp shampoo by Keracare that's supposed to be good for this purpose.

At the beginning of my healthy hair journey, I had major dandruff problems myself. I solved them by not putting anything on my scalp. I used to be one of those people who believed I HAD to put oil or grease or something on my scalp. But when I stopped doing that, my hair thrived and my dandruff was completely eliminated. I literally can't remember the last time I saw flakes on my scalp. So, if you're using some kind of heavy greases or moisturizers on your scalp, I'd try laying off of those for a while and just keeping a clean scalp to see what happens.

You may also consider a filter for your sink or shower to keep the water from having an adverse effect on your hair.

I was thinking about Henna, but not in that kind of way...hmm..where do you buy yours???

I used to have this problem (and still have it if I visit a climate where the weather is cold & dry). What has worked for me are:
Nizoral RX Strength Shampoo
KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Shampoo
Design Essentials Therapeutic Shampoo or
Head & Shoulders Extra Strength Shampoo.

Pre-pooing w/ coconut oil is also great! HTH

Can you use HENNA on color treated hair?

Well I live in Northern Florida and it's different weather.

Nizoral shampoo was too drying for me when I used it a few years ago. I tried sulfer 8 instead. Then I started to wash my hair at least once a week and didn't put anything on my scalp unless it was sulfer 8/shea butter/MTG/coconut oil. Most of the time now, I don't bother to put anything on my scalp.

If your hair likes ACV, it works. You can make up a rinse with it or use a cotton pad to run it directly on your scalp.

We're good, I guess your reply confused me a bit. Sorry;)

I really hope you solve the issue, I know first-hand how fustrating the flakes can be. Also, try limiting the amount of products you use, especially those that contain alcohol.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

When my hair was permed, I used to use Nizoral Anti-Dandruff shampoo. You can find it in most drugstores and runs about $10. I used to shampoo my hair once with it and then do a second shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo. After a few weeks, my dandruff was gone. I also started drinking a lot more water as well.

I hope this works for you.

Thanks - Adrienne
