to a smooth successful straigtening of hair using just a flat iron.

List the steps like you are talking to a three year old.

Here is a list of my products after Coconut and Lime treatment, poo, oil rinse, and conditioning:

Aveda Damage Control
Aveda smooth fluid serum
Aveda anti-humectant pomade
Chi Silk Infusion

In what order ladies, in what order?... TIA

Ten steps to a beautiful press...

  1. Prepoo with Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor 15-30 w/shower cap. You can use heat if you wish.
  2. Wash with Keracare 1st lather shampoo, then Keracare Hydrating Detangling shampoo
  3. Condition with Affirm 5-in-1 reconstructor (15 minutes)
  4. Detangle and section hair
  5. Rinse well (I stress this!)
  6. Distribute dime sized amount of Redken gloss drops or similar serum to hair
  7. Blow dry in sections.
  8. Press hair using medium heat but slowly pass the comb through the hair, using the back of the comb.
  9. Apply a few more drops of serum to the hair.
  10. Flat iron using low to medium heat if desired for style; or wrap pressed hair, cover with scarf and sleep on it for the night.
Get to know your hair. Coarser hair may be able to handle (or need) higher heat and fine hair may need lower heat. HTH

ETA...I know you said JUST a flat iron, but I think that's damaging to hair shaft....jmho.

Thank you very much... Do you press your hair with a hot comb?

My stylist told me the opposite. That the hot comb is more damaging. He uses a flat iron on my hair.

:nono: I've found the opposite to be true for my hair. Flatironing alone wreaks havok on my hair...this may not be true for everyone, though.

I'm not a 4b though so that might be why. I get pretty straight with just the blowdryer.
