Does anyone notice any difference in the oils they use, like jojoba, olive, castor, rosemary...? Do they have different effects or do they all do they same thing?

My oils are jojoba, avocado, apricot kernel, & aloe vera. IMO, they are all very different though the apricot kernel and avocado are similar. The jojoba is definitely different than any other oil I've used.

,

Check out Jade's diary: Oils. She does a fantastic job of explaining various oils and their effects on her hair. Jade is a LHCF member and very knowledgeable about many aspects of hair care. Her suggestions have helped the growth and health of my hair immensely.

you can find them at any hair care store. I see them in Sally's all the time, I have been wanting to try the jojoba oil, but haven't yet.

I've bought my jojoba oil from Mountain Rose Herbs. It's 100% certified organic and is sold in the largest amount for the least $$$ I've found so far: e.g., 8 ounces for $12.75 or 16 ounces for $21. It's one of the many wonderful product recs I've picked up from Jade.

As for avocado, click on the link I provided in my previous post. Jade reviews avocado oil and provides the vendors she gets it from.

Good luck!

It depends on what result you're seeking.

I have never used avocado oil so I can't speak about its effects on my hair. Jojoba oil I really like because I have fine hair that craves moisture but doesn't react well to being weighed down with heavy oils (if I'm not wearing a protective style like a bun). The advantage of jojoba oil is that it mimics sebum, the substance our scalps naturally produces. But Jade can explain the differences better than I can. Here is her one-page explanation of olive oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil and their individual effects and benefits: Oils Explained.

Good luck!

From what I read, I gathered that Olive oil is heavier that jojoba oil. Well, I do not have fine hair but I still do not want something that weighs my hair down. I am using olive oil now and it does seem to make my hair heavy.I think i will get some jojoba oil and us the olive oil as a hot oil treatment.

I presently use EVO oil and I love the way it works on my hair. I have very THICK hair so it doesn't really weigh down my hair, plus I don't use a whole lot...I'm really interested to try the jojoba and avocado oils, though...I will have a look for it this weekend.

I just love jojoba oil, I used to use olive oil for treatments and it would make my hair hard and greasy, but jojoba oil adds shine and softness. If it was cheaper, I would use it for hot oil treatments as well.

I don't know the meaning behind the oils, but I do know the different effects I received from using different oils. I have to say that jojoba is a favorite for me as well, although like many have said very expensive. I feel into some jojoba oil that was on sale at a clothing store and decided to buy the 4 oz bottle for I believe $.75. Loved it. It seemed to make my hair healthier and shiner. After running out of that I turned to wild hair growth oil (mixture of various oils) - does not really apply here. Then after running out of that I tried the olive oil. I do not know what benefits I'm getting from this olive oil

. I slap some on my hair after I do conditioner only washes. It does not make my hair shine, I'm guessing it is helping with sealing in the moisture but I use it with a combination of other hair products to get my desired effect.

Thanks ladies! I guess I made the right choice with the jojoba. I can't wait unitl it gets here so I can see. But, in the mean time, I have to stick with the olive oil.
