Bumping.

I have been using just my water/avj/rosemary oil spray and sealing with any oil i feel like for the past week and my hair feels and looks different already....no greasy, dry feeling that shop bought products can give me.

I suffer from build up really quickly but not with just water and oils.

Know your ingredients, and cut out the middle man, lol.

I am slowly moving this way. I am using a combination of water, oils and butters. I am still using commercial products because I have them but I can see that I can easily get buy with just the 3 things.

This week I did an oil rinse and then used SM Smoothie which is mostly a butter. And that was it.

Once I use up my stash, I will just switch over to Naptural85s butter blend recipe and use that.

If have found out if I want to use butters I have to break them down well with oils. And in the winter time I need the butters in addition to the oils. But in the summer I may be able to just do an oil rinse.

I did this with coco and water one summer when I was ridiculously broke. I retained length. But I like to have a variety of oils on hand and at least one butter.

Yes, I can't see being limited to ONE oil or butter since they all have a different characteristic.

Sounds like a good idea. Water is the best moisturizer.

Does anyone her use water as their moisturizer/ leave- in and seal with an oil only? I thought i would never do this but since i have been doing hot oil treatments i don't feel the need to use a moisturizer or leave in anymore. When my hair is wet i just seal lightly with an oil and my hair has been really soft and im surprised its not oily. I still use shampoo and conditioner but i have stopped doing dc's. I hope this is something i can continue to do, also i notice my scalp has really calmed down itching since i started this.

What I have been doing recently is spraying a mixture of leave-in, water, and first cold pressed EVOO on my wet fro just before I step out of the shower and the next day to wake up my dry hair.

It is easier for me to evenly distribute the leave in and oil if I spray it in and this is the only thing that I have been using to moisturize and oil my hair at the same time and it has worked for me so far.

I prefer to use oils as my leave-in. Creamy leave-ins just sit on my hair and can make my hair feel dry. Oils leave my hair soft and smooth :) I was using sweet almond oil for a while, but now I use safflower oil and it's great! I want to try grapeseed oil next. I still haven't gotten any jojoba oil yet lol. I've reeeally been wanting to try it. My hair and skin love oils.

After trying safflower oil for the first time last week, I am thinking about going to a routine of using just plain water as a moisturizer and safflower oil as a sealant. I got good results from using just water and oil on my hair. It leaves my hair soft and strong at the same time.

I was using Long Aid Activator Gel for wash n go's but the product started feeling sticky on my hair sometimes. And it's hard for me to keep my hands out of my hair, so whenever I touched my hair, the Long Aid gel would leave a weird film on my fingers.

I also started using Fantasia ic Hair Polisher Gel with Sparklelites for hold for twistouts. It worked for awhile until buildup from the product started to appear in tiny little balls throughout my hair strands.

With water and oil, I don't have to worry about any of this. I hope this routine works for my hair in the long run. About twice a month, I will be shampooing, conditioning, towel dry with a microfiber towel, applying water and safflower oil, detangling, then braiding or flat-twisting my natural hair to airdry.

I have been practicing a modified water-only method for about a month now. Most days when it's time to wash or re-style my hair, I gently finger scrub my scalp under the shower water. Then I apply a generous amount of oil to my hair (usually coconut or jojoba, but I recently started using olive oil).

Since I've done this, my hair is super shiny, I can actually FEEL the natural sebum on my scalp and there is absolutely ZERO scalp cheese.

Yes. The front of my hair, which has been out of microlinks the longest and probably suffered less heat damage takes oils and water alone and looks much, much, MUCH, better than the rest of my hair. I'm hoping over time my whole head will be able to do so.

I'm discovering that my hair loves distilled water or aloe vera and oil only minus the leave-in conditioner. Still dcing and co-washing. Justed ordered a butter to try as well for some weight but my hair feels and looks better without a leave-in as in more moisturized.

Yes,

Every day I use a distilled water mixed with authentic argan oil to refresh my fro

My ratio is 8 oz of water with 2 cap fulls of oil (from a 4oz bottle of oil).

when the water is low and hard to spray again I refill to the 8 oz mark and then add the 2 caps of water. I never let my bottle completely empty.
