Hi ladies was just wondering if its a bad thing to oil my scalp every other night. My hair isnt dry just kinda got into th habit of doing it. I dont use a heavy oil something light. Also use healthy hair butter every other night. Am I setting myself for something terrible?

I think putting oil on your scalp clogs it, therefor slowing growth, also I don't think it's best to use HHB often unless you're doing some kind of wash. After a couple of days, your hair will start to smell

What kind of oil are you using? How long have you been oiling your scalp? Every other night seems reasonable enough. Only you can truly answer that question because you know what's going on on youur head. I would say keep doing what you're doing until you notice any type of problem/undesirable results and then at that point apply less frequently or not at all.

I hope I was helpful.

I think if your scalp is fine without the oiling, then it's probably better to keep the scalp clear. Perhaps, the night before you wash would be a better idea.

Nothing goes on the scalp. The sebaceous glands take care of the scalp. It does not need us to help it. It is the oldest hair we need to focus on, the ends.

I agree

Oiling your scalp lightly is probably fine. Actually, in some cases the scalp may need us to help it. If your scalp is very dry, that can also hinder hair growth.

The ammount of oil produced is not constant. It fluctuates and the causes are not all known, but hormones and temperature play a factor.

Oiling it every other day may be too much, though. Perhaps only twice or thrice a week?

I oil my scalp right after washing my hair and thats it. I use dax supergro, which is very light. It melts in your hand and I added a few drops of rosemary EO

I oil my scalp the day after a wash. Which is twice a week. I use a scalp cocktail in which I created. Castor oil, Almond oil or Avocado oil with Rosemary, Peppermint and lavendar oil. I also massage my scalp with this. It has worked wonderfully.

Thanks for the input. I dont use the HHB as often as I oil my scalp. Maybe once a week. Its really thick and strong smelling. I usually use it right after I wash my hair. I use light oils every other night. Like coconut cream oil or something of that nature that melts in your hand.

I think it depends on the person and what your hair needs are. Dry scalp runs in my family, in fact I often tease my mother about how often she oils her scalp, but her hair is nearly to her waist and has been since I was a little girl. A year and half ago I chopped off my hair to about ear level and when I decided to grow it back I oiled 3 days a week and my hair grew about 8 inches. So,I guess it just depends.
