Doesn't it make your hair white and dull? It does mine. I'd love to be able to seal my freshly washed hair with oil, but I have to wait until it's at least 50+% dry. Is that what everybody else does?

I seal mines while it is soaking wet. Maybe it is the oil that you are using?

What all have you tried?

Kemi Oyl and Keracare's essential oils are realy good.

It may be the oil you use, mine doesnt get dull and white looking, i use island oil on soaking wet hair.

Dang! Those are the oils I use... what's the deal! Yours doesn't do that?
Maybe I'm using too much. How much you guys using?

It depends how post relaxer I am, but I never use over a quarter sized amoutn. I probably use about 6-8 drops.

I squeeze some in my palms for the front and a palm for the back and then one for the middle...dunno how much exactly.

I've been using my Amla & Sampoorna Oils on wet hair without any problems. Recently I've used the Qhemets Amla & Olive Oil Heavy Cream without issue also.

It could be your leave in conditioner, if you use one. Some conditioners don't play well with oil.

Are you mixing oils in your leave in and then putting it on your wet hair or are using just straight up OILS on your hair like olive oil?

I put Grapeseed Oil on my wet hair to seal the ends and so they won't be all frizzy when it drys. I love it!!!

Ladies, when you say you're using the oil on soaking wet hair, are you'll using a leavein first than sealing w/ the oil?

This is how I do mine most times. I have never had the white residue problem.

Oh Okay Thanks.I was wondering cause, I saw somewhere on this forum about what oils are used and alot of ladies stated they use oil on soaking wet hair. So I tried it the other night w/ EVOO but misunderstood so I didn't use a leavein, but my hair did dry soft and shiny. But normally I leavein MNT cond and Surges Motion Lotion #9 oil or Africa's Best herbal oil.

I squeeze out the excess water in the shower, apply grapeseed oil to my hair and ends, then wrap a towel around my head for 5-10 minutes, and proceed to bunning.

I don't use any other leave in just the oil mentioned above.

edit: forgot to add last sentence.

Okay so I will be doing this more often like when I do a co wash. I'd like to try that grapeseed oil,one day. Thanks

I put a little coconut oil and an herbal oil in my homemade moisturising spray and I seal it with wonder 8 hair oil and I don't have any problems.

I only ever use oil on soaking wet hair.
Usually coconut or sweet almond oil.
I've had no problems with residue. As others have mentioned, it's probably your leave in.

My hair doesn't love oil. The only way I can use it successfully is on soaking wet hair right after showering. I put it on after some sort of leave in and/or honey rinse. Lately I've been using unrefined organic coconut oil, because in the summer it stays liquified. I pour some in my palm and smooth it through my hair. I don't have any problems with my hair being white or dull.

I have started to just squeeze out excess water and not towel dry, so my hair is still dripping not soaking wet, I then add my leave in and then the oil.

I'm using Salerm 21 or Aveda Elixir (as my leave-in) and Keracare or Qhemet (for my moisturizer). Maybe it's the Salerm 21. That stuff is too good to give up tho.

I also sometimes leave in Aveda DR (even tho it says rinse). That might be it. Maybe it's because I'm leaving full-on conditioner in my hair?

There's what I'm talking about...

Normally it looks like...

I have never found a moisturiser that suits my hair so i always put coconut oil on my wet hair and it is fine. It always comes out soft and silky so maybe you cld try coconut. I don't use leave ins or anything else though.

Sareca,

I have had the same problem. It usually happens when I use Keracare leave-in conditioner with oil to seal it. My hair looks like I put milk in it. It goes away when it dries though.

Now, I wait until my hair is 50% dry and then I put oil on.

THANK YOU! I thought I was losing my dang blastit mind. That's exactly what my hair looks like. I was like  I guess I'm just gonna have wait it out. I always feel like I'm not sealing in moisture w/ the oil if most of the water is gone when I apply it. :ohwell:
