I've been reading the threads on various oils and I need some help choosing which one I'd like to try. Here's what I want you tell me what would be good.

Details:
My hair is texlaxed, combo of textures really seriously thick.

I want something I can use on my scalp to help growth, and that I can use on my ends and as a pre-poo.

I don' really want my hair to get thicker. If it gets thicker I don't know if I'll be able to deal with it when it gets longer if that makes any sense.

Also I need for it to be not too expensive and have no sulfur in it because I am allergic to sulfur.

TIA ladies :)

One of my favorites is sweet almond oil...it's not very heavy, and can be used on the scalp and the ends of the hair with no problem, it won't weigh it down so much.
Another even lighter oil to try is grapeseed oil.

Or why not try amla oil? It might smell a bit...strange:lol: , but it makes my hair feel great. That's what I would use for the pre-poo.

Thankfully, none of these oils are very expensive.

You'll find amla at your local indian store, or on the internet.
You can pick the other two up at Whole Foods or Trader Joes. :)

HTH!

Ditto to all, but esp. the bolded.

Thank you ladies. Actually Amla has been at the top of my maybe list for awhile. I'm going to look locally then if I can't fin it order some.

Well I think a stimulating essential oil like rosemary would be good for your scalp to encourage growth and nourishing oil like jojoba oil/avocado butter/mango butter on your ends to help with protecting.

Avocado oil might be good because it is chock full of vitamins, lecithin and other good stuff; it absorbs into hair quickly; does not leave a greasy buildup and detangles, too.

I love WGO on my hair and Amla is good but it smells like urine IMO. If you use it as a prepoo and are washing it out afterwards, it's not a problem.

Thank you very much ladies. I think I am going to buy small amounts of different oils until I come up with a combo I like.

Red palm oil for length and ends. :yep:

I've tried over 15 different oils and butters and I have to say red palm oil (or butter depending on the temperature), camellia oil, and coconut oil are my favorites. Red palm kicks everybody butt tho.

What do you like best about it?

(Now I have to run off to google it) :)
