So when you flat iron your hair is it okay to use an oil along with your heat protectant? I heard that that can fry your hair. Is that true?

I would not do it. I think oil absorbs so much heat before its temperature rises so you might end up frying your hair because by the time the oil smokes, it's already absorbed way more heat than would be required to turn water into steam. That's my theory anyway. Never put it to test, not planning on doing it either.

thanks nonie! i think ur right. I noticed that when I put oil on my hair it didnt feel soft after I applied heat. It made it feel a little stringy and hard. Your explanation made sense.

Try applying the oil after flat ironing and not before. Like to moisturize and then seal with the oil. HTH!
