Sigh...Engaging in the second S&D of the week :nono:

When I saw this foolishness I HAD to post it as a cautionary tale. NEVER try something "new" with your hair while on vacation with limited products.

Most of my S&Ding is based in SSKs but I've noticed more actual splits (most are just starting and not this dramatic) and the only thing I can attribute them to is trying to do a half-____ shingling job while on vacation with only a few of my basic products and some hotel conditioner.

Sigh...back to S&Ding.

Yikes. Could a poor shingling job really cause splits that bad? Are your sure there is no other issue with technique? Or, have you gone a while...like are really long while without a trim?

My last trim ~1in in May-June. Before the shingling I only had the SSKs that I am normally plagued by; however I did flat iron my hair about a month ago so there could be residual damage. For the record, I've been fully natural going on 2 years and have straightened my hair a few times before. I never use high heat bc I'm scared to almost death of heat damage but I do naturally have fine strands. The shingling *cough* with the denman*cough is the only thing I can think of.
