I was massaging conditioner in my hair and I pulled the sides a bit and the texture does not seem right.
Pix below...is this heat damage, scab hairs or just different texture? I pulled the hair a bit so you can see what I mean. It is only on those spots on both sides of my head.:nono:

What should I do...PLEASE HELP! I AM FREAKING OUT

Sorry the pics are huge, I tried to resize, but photobucket is slow.

this is a new discovery right? some people just have a patch of different texture hair. you use heat a lot, and if not, when you do use heat, are you protecting the hair enough? heat setting too high?

Thank you. I use a hot air brush every second week and a touch up here and there (nothing excessive), I always use a heat protectant. I don't even do this often, sometimes I go weeks without heat at all.

Looks like some heat damage to me. I tried to flat iron and many parts of my hair was like that, I had to so some deep condition and cutting and my hair has snapped back.
be careful with heat, it is a gamble. Even with a heat brush. My hair was not even straight and the temp was not hot and I stil got heat damage with the Chi heat protectant.I do wigs, when I want a straight style.

a heat brush? lawd i think i heard one of my hairs snappin just thinkin about it! brush? heat? whoo!

the texture doesn't look that diff, but it looks shorter than the length i see in your fotki, so it may be the brush part that caused the breakage.

The pics in my fotki are with stretched hair and the pix I posted in this thread are with my shrunken fro, hence the length difference.
As for the brush, it has wide teeth and I make sure my hair is detangled good and I also do small parts just to make sure. I hardly get any breakage during detangling or stretching, but I will pay closer attention to make sure I am not loosing more hair than normal.

UPDATE:
Ok, so I DCed and then moisturized and I see a difference, it seems much looser to the texture of the rest of my hair now.
I am still curious to know what this is all about though
:ohwell:

It's hard to tell in the pics....but it doesn't look like damage.:perplexed
I agree, it's hard to tell. But my strands definitely feel different depending on how I moisturize. They can start to feel rough if I've been slacking, but as soon as I moisturize them well again everything is all gravy again.

It's hard to tell because you pulled it out. I would up the deep conditioning for now. Often times that helps with hair that won't revert right away. Also, what heat protectant are you using?

Thanks, I am using CHI silk infusion and Sabino.
I ended up dusting my ends all around and I will up my DCing and will see what happens.
I had so many single strand knots, it was scary.

Bumping...
Arrrrrrrrrrr...my hair is driving me crazy these last two days. I have one problem after another.

Sorry, I am just so UPSET.

Mine looks like that sometimes (before I straightened). It's hard to tell from the pics. I assumed mine were ragged ends or just hair that was a more stretched texture. May not be heat damage, because mine would look like that when my hair had never even seen heat. But it's hard to tell. :perplexed

Girl if you don't smash that part down and twirl it in with the other hair and keep it pushing.

I understand the single strand knots stuff. I have tons, probably from my past wash n go's and the fact I never really trimmed until this year. Dry hair, single strand knots, super sheading etc...all things to be like ooo goodness help..

But, your hair right here is probably just a tad bit different. If you can't shake the feeling that it is heat damage stop using your hot air brush. And do not cut anything and keep nurturing your hair and finding new styles.

Ok, maybe I am just worrying too much! Anyway, I ended up dusting my ends so I should be ok now

I hope my hair is not uneven now:look:

Oh well, I guess time will tell.

Girl, you'll be fine. You can start worrying when your ends have no curl and people start thinking you just haven't relaxed in 2 years :lachen:. It's not uncommon that people start discovering fifty-leven textures in their hair.

It is hard to tell. If it is, it is not bad at all. A lot of times hair damaged hair stays straight (or close to straight) when wet. So this does not look as bad as some heat damaged hair that I have seen.

Thank you...I have been freaking out the last two days...which ended in me dusting my ends. I hope I did not mess up by doing this. Things are looking good.
