These DANG Caruso rollers! Somebody please help me, I'm dying here!
I woke up @ 5:30am to make SURE my hair was good today... i finished rolling my hair @ 6:10am and left those bad boys in until 7am.

MY HAIR LOOKS LIKE A DIRTY BRILLO PAD!!! I'm trying to stretch my perm but I'm only @ 8 weeks now! I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO DO ANYTHING ELSE!! I'm at work sitting in at the front desk to help out this morning for the whole office to see my misfortune... I am SO embarrassed!

I used end papers, i only let the roller sit for like 7-8 seconds... i have type 4 hair, and that's what it said to use it for... i didn't put ANY product in my hair... And when i took the rollers out, my hair looked CRAZY! I started panicking and crying and my husband said i look fine, but i know he was just trying to get me out of the house before i ran late...

Now that i'm here @ work, it's even WORSE! i look like i have gone swimming and just let my hair DRY UP on top of my HEAD, but the very little endings are curled... but it's so BUSHY you can't even TELL it's a curl, it just looks BAD!!! Oh PLEASE somebody tell me what the hell i'm not doing right... I really want these to work for me, but I can't be seen like this!

It looks just so DRY! I sprayed a glossy finisher on it and it still is not shining... Oh GAWD!!! I have 2 meetings to go to today w/my boss...:wallbash:
one is a teleconference w/ an office in California and in Boston, I'm in DC... and i'm the only black woman in both these meetings... Way to represent! YUCK!!! ADVICE ADVICE ADVICE!!!!!!

Is there a Walmart near by that you can run to and get some coconut oil to put in it until you can go home and treat the hair properly? Those glossy finishers really don't work well imo.

If you are completly "empty handed" you can wet your hair completly and put it in a protective syle. If your hair is short, dry it as much as possible and fluff it up on the top and kinda brush it down on the sides.....at lunch time you can rush out to walgreens or walmart to get hair stuff.....will your employer give you some time to do this?:sad:
I hope things turn around for you sweetie.

No, theres nothing... a CVS maybe on the corner, but no Walmarts are in the downtown area... And what would the coconut oil do for me? i don't have any idea what is used for moisturizing and what is used for sealing and in what order... but from reading all the threads, it looks like you can't have ANY product in your hair when using the caruso...

I'm so sorry...are you able to brush it in a ponytail or pin it?

I have used Caruso for years. For me the technique is all in how you roll it. Just keep practicing. In the meantime, run to the store to get some hair supply so you could zush it up.

BIG HUG!

CVS may not have coconut oil. But I am sure they have some type of oil moisturizer. You just need to make it through the day. So I would go there get some moisturizer or even some cheapie conditioner and an empty spray bottle. Mix conditioner with water in spray bottle. Mist you hair and put into a bun or at least tuck the ends of pony tail under.

Then put a headband on. Im sure they have a wide selection of them at CVS. That should get you through the day and shouldnt take too much time.

I dont know how to use carusos either, so I cant help you there.

Get thee to CVS asap.

I was going to suggest getting some gel, a ponytail holder and slicking your hair into a bun.

I may try spritzing it up w/some conditioner/oil moisturizer/water...

I'll then look like a wet dog, and Lord knows the tangles I'll have when I get home... I don't know WHAT to do w/my hair. I look funny w/short hair, so I can't do a BC, and my hair now is just pitiful.

After reading all the caruso threads, i just KNEW I was gonna be able to work it the right way... maybe i shouldn't just stretch my perms, but I'm shedding and i can tell my hair is damaged, i just don't know what other way to deal w/it. i can't wash it everyday, that'll take too long and i have 3 kids from ages 4 to 2 months... i just don't have the time like some of you!

Anybody know the difference between caruso rolling it and just using magnetic rollers? Anybody know if a kiddy perm will be better for me than an adult one?

Sounds like a winner... I don't know HOW on earth i'm gonna comb thru these ends... I can feel them and they are already so dry and brittle... I'll probably snap the ends off when I comb thru them...:nono:

I'm really sorry that this happened to you. I would do a quick fix today, which is a ponytail. Just use some type of Oil Moisturizer to pull your hair back into a bun. B&B Oil moisturizer is my staple and I buy it from CVS or Walgreens.

Remember also that not everyone can be a Do It Yourself girl. I do everything myself because I love working with hair. But if I didn't have the patience and time I would find a good stylist to help me. You CAN be a part of LHCF and go faithfully to the hair salon!

I would suggest that you consider the condition of your hair and what it needs the most right now LATER. For today, just focus on looking cute for the rest of the business day. It sounds like you're in a panic and that's completely understandable. I hope you are able to put it in a bun and keep it moving.

I would suggest texlaxing instead of relaxing. A kiddi perm is no different from an adult perm in my opinion. Texlaxing is leaving the relaxer on for a shorter amount of time, leaving texture behind. But again, consider all that tomorrow. Today hopefully you'll laugh about this by 5p.m.

Best wishes!

Maybe you could put a scarf around the front of your hair and tie it in the back. I know my CVS sells them. I hope you find something.

I am so sorry this happened to you! I wouldn't suggest wetting your whole head with water while at work. But, I would suggest using some type of pomade to smooth the sides down and put the rest of your hair in a updo with hair pins. Good luck!!!!

Hey girlie,

I was just checkin in on you to see how the rest of your day went. I hope it went fab..even though it got off to a bad start.

A caruso user here & from what I can gather from your post (1) it takes about 30 minutes for the hair to set so your timing was great, (2) letting the roller set for 7-8 seconds may have been the culprit if the roller was moist/wet when you put it on your hair. It takes about 5 seconds for a roller to get ready and even then I have to shake off the excess moisture. (3) WHO SAID YOU COULDN'T PUT ANY PRODUCT IN YOUR HAIR??? I use my moisturizer and seal with a liquid oil. I do this to each section of hair dry before I roll it. This helps me keep the frizzies under control. What state was your hair in prior to using the rollers? It sounds like your hair ended up wet and you don't want that. Just a bit of advice for your next trial.

Stretching your relaxer is beneficial for some. And I would recommend 8-10 weeks. How long are you trying to stretch for? And have you incorporated a deep moisturizing conditioner and a light protein one? What else other than caruso's have you been trying to do with your hair? It can be frustrating but you'll figure out what you can do with your hair soon.

A kiddy perm and an adult one have the same ingredients. The difference is in the way the product is marketed. You may want to try a milder relaxer vs. regular or super. Are you underprocessed or overprocessed?

Don't give up yet. Just make sure you test it out again when you have no where important to be. Good luck chica!

I found myself shaking my head in unity with your plight and laughing because I have been there before when you find yourself with a crazy style right before you leave the house. I find that I am not one who can do the caruso and leave right out and expect the style to be banging. I do it at night and pincurl and or wrap hair. Hope your day ended okay!
