OCT v.s. MT

i'm thinking of buying ONE of these but im not sure if people are using the pill or the shampoo and conditioner? or is it a grease? im confused on that one! but it would ne great if everyone could give their advice and maybe some pix of how they helped if you want. THANKS IN ADVANCE LADIES!!

Ummmm. I don't know about any "pill", but both the OCT and the MT are the consistency of conditioner. People either "grease" their scalp with it, mix it with some type of "carrier oil" - and then grease the scalp with it, or they use it like regular conditioner (leave it on for a few minutes and rinse it out).

Either way, it's a heavy protein, so you will need to step up your moisture to keep your hair from overloading on protein and breaking.

I don't think there is really a difference in the two products as far as results. Some people say with OCT, they noticed length first - then thickness. Others that used MT said they noticed thickness first - then length. But the end result was the same with both products - longer, thicker hair.

Never heard of a pill. I bought my OCT from ovationhair.com

Yes, what she said My first bottle, I ran thru too quick but then I read to put a dallop in the cap and use from there... and over a year later, I still have that bottle, but I also don't use it nearly as heavy as when I jumped on that wagon hope that helps!

oh and it smells so pretty!

thanks ladies! so mega-tek first and its a conditioner, but you generally put it on as a scalp greaser...right? and if you do that then you would want to mix it with a carrier oil? but do you still step up your moisture since its a protein??

Yes, its a conditioner, but you apply like you are greasing your scalp... I did not mix mine with an oil -- I would not use it as a wash out conditioner, tho some do... Its just too expensive to me for that.
It depends on your hair and its tolerance for protein... I didn't do anything much different, because I was on a daily cowash kick anyway. Hope that helps

I use MT daily with nothing added, however I co-wash a lot. Almost daily. I haven't been using it long, but I'm seeing a difference already. It is worth the money. I bought some OCT on impulse. I wish I would have waited to see how the MT was going to work. Could have saved 60 bucks. I'going to work the OCT into my regi as planned.

Thanks for asking this question! I did a search and came upon the MT/OCT challenge thread which did help a little but I was still a little unclear on some things. Hopefully some more ladies will post their experiences with MT and OCT because I'm VERY interested in trying out both of them.



My question is... does it leave a visable residue when applied to the scalp daily and not washed out that same day?

oh... My OCT bottle says to wash it out. I guess your either supposed to wear it overnight and wash it out in the morning or put it on in the shower and wash it out. MY MT bottle says you can leave it in. Hope this help....

The mega-tek says you can leave in or wash out. Remember that mega-tek is for horses so the chemical content of the product may be too much for some people's hair. Consequently, a lot of people don't leave it in, but wash it out.

Sorry, I meant you can leave it in. I reapply after my co-washes or shampooing. I use conditioner a lot and DC aleast once a weak to keep my hair balances. I wish someone would start a MT challenge for 2010. I could use the support.

I have and LOVE MT.. (Ive not tried OCT but I'm sure it works based on testimonies.. Plus I noticed that they are playing Ovation radio commercials like crazy out in Dallas)
