I need some pronto advice *holding clippers*:look:

I will shave this mess off once again if something does not happen SOON:nono:
-My hair feels like fur, I understand it is fine and fragile
-It has once again broken off in the front and random spots toward the middle. It did this when I was relaxed, I thought it was a chemical issue but I shave my DARN HEAD only for it to happen again!
- It grows slow as heck. I understand I was bald this time 1.5 years ago:rolleyes:
-My scalp in the front near the breakage feels tender/itchy/RAW:wallbash:

What I have been doing: wearing wigs/sew ins 80% of the time. Yes I keep my hair moisturized underneath. I cowash 3-5 times a week and at least get it wet everyday. I use light oils on my scalp mostly coconut.
I use suave condish or Trader Joes which is organic. Then I braid NOT TIGHT, and sew hair on or throw a wig on. :perplexed Is this so bad!
Tonight I will reevaluate the responses to this thread and I am going to either shave again and wear wigs while I start fresh or I will buy SOMETHING to help me. I feel like my scalp is the issue!

Girl .....Those are you pic in your siggy right........Drop the clippers....Your hair is beautiful... I love your hair!!!.....Don't have any advice at this moment just walk away from the clippers........

To start, I just wanna say your hair is FINE!

Now.

Hrrrm.

My first thought (which could be totally wrong) is that you have maybe an infection/fungus of some sort on your scalp - causing the itchiness and tenderness? And the fact that most of the time, your hair is covered by a wig - does your scalp get a chance to breathe, get some sunlight on it, dry fully, etc, etc??

I would suggest - just to see - trying a lil tea tree oil in your coconut oil on your scalp in that area, and seeing if that helps.

OR

You are having a mild allergic reaction to something that you are using - in which case, you would have to go through your products and figure out what's new/might be causing the issue....

Breakage areas - once again, I would check the wig - if it's breaking off in the same areas - are you bobby pinning there? Funny angle of the thread in the sew-in? Are you braiding your hair in the same 'pattern' each time? Did you wear wigs/sew-ins while you were relaxed as well?

Shockingly enough, I'm also wondering if your hair is potentially OVER moisturized (which I almost never say) and it's too soft - thus the breakage, because it can't hold up to the friction of the hair...

And feels like fur? :look: Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? And what kinda fur?

Are you wearing a satin cap or a wig cap under your wig?

Someone suggesting gettng a silk or satin scarf and sewing it inside the wig cutting off the ends of the scarf.

Or wear one of those satin caps that is real thin you get from the BSS and wear that under the wig if your are going to continue wearing them. It should help alleviate any friction or pressure the wig causes while you wear it.

Step away from the clippers!

PS I am looking at your pictures do you have color in your hair? I know hair dyes can cause breakage also.

When I wore wigs for a while my scalp got sore and tender. I just think the scalp needs to breath. Maybe you should try giving the wigs a break and opt for braids/twists/cornrows/twist-outs. Do that, and see how your hair and scalp behaves. HTH

:lachen:Thanks for making me laugh but thats the word I use to describe my hair. Okay fur like...soft fluffy but NOT like cotton. My hair is just fine and wispy rather relaxed or natural.
The sew ins were done on relaxed hair also and no I never had this issue.
Good point about not drying all the way and then putting a wig on. That could be an HUGE issue.
Yes I keep the same braid pattern which is usually straight back cornrows like six of them while wearing sew ins and wigs.
I wish someone did housecalls so I can get an accurate diagnosis!

Yes I do. It was a dye job I did back in April 07. Maybe I should just cut the dye off?
And yes I wear wig caps.

 Okay, I think I got you on the fur thing - wispy but smooth? I'm thinking cat fur (not a dog person), and yes, I well know that sort of hair.

Oooh, I didn't even catch the color. Yeah, girl, color will have you breaking off like - well, yeah. You've gotta keep an eye on that - the colored part will be much thinner, much more fragile, and much drier than the rest of your hair - what your colored hair needs, your virgin hair might not even LIKE. *sigh*

I would also suggest that you vary up your braid patterns - go to 8 or down to 4 occasionally, so as to reduce the stress on the EXACT same spot of hair, ya know?

This sounds just like my hair/scalp when I have an issue with my eczema. I rarely have a problem with it anymore, but when I do, it's raw itchy scalp in the very front about 1/8-1/4 from my hairline and in the crown of my head. I went to the dermatologist for this last year and he prescribed this light oil called "Derma-Smoothe/FS".

Personally, I try to keep synthetics away from my scalp and to let the areas breathe so that the eczema will dry out if it flares up. I know that you can't alway wear your hair parted at those trouble spots, so I would just take my hair down when I got home from school/work and part it to let them have access to the air. I've heard of people using cortozone on their scalps for it, and also using ACV rinses. The most important thing for me was to let my scalp breathe.

Ok thank you very much, I understand what you mean. I will chop of the color. It's about two inches I think. And then clarify, wash, deep condition then braid! It sounds like I need to lose the color and let my hair dry before putting a wig on top of it! Thanks to everyone that helped!!

You know, I used one of TJ's formulas and that thing made me itch all over the place. I don't know if I was allergic to one of the ingredients or what. It worked wonders for my hair and wreaked havoc on my scalp. :nono:

Keep in mind that I am not a dermatologist, but a few things came to mind while reading your post.

One, are you letting your scalp get any air? Maybe only wear your wig while out of the house and take it off as soon as you get home.

Could you have a bactirial/fungal growth? you may have to use an astringet oil such as grapeseed or bayleaf oil.(bayleaf is anti- bacterial/fungal/viral)

Do you wash your wig? Maybe wash it with an antibacterial/fungal shampoo?

Maybe met down your cocnut oil and add the grape seed oil there or the GSO topically?

If I think of anything else I will post again.

oh, your diet (both "such a selection or a limitation on the amount a person eats for reducing weight:", and "food or feed habitually eaten or provided") might be effecting both how fast/slow your hair is growing and it falling out.
