I was debating relaxing my hair on Thursday before Homecoming (I am natural, but not for any particular reason.) Well, today was going to be the last wash day before relaxing. So I figured I ought to get all the tangles out now. Well, I let my hair dry a little too much before I combed it. I raked the comb all through my head. I loss so much hair. I'm scared to see how thin it may look Thursday when I relax, rollerset and flatiron it. My little bun in the back (that now has a wig over it) is looking very pathetic.

Nooooooo! I can't believe I did that! Is there anythign I can do to ensure my hair doesn't look sparse come Friday?

Im sorry to hear this. I am not a big fan of wrapping these days, but if you want volume, I would skip flat ironning after wetsetting. Just wetset and gently wrap (don't use a fine tooth comb or brush/just use a wide tooth comb and cover with a scarf, let the scarf do the work of flattening the roots). Another tip: Very very lightly drizzle your hair with distilled water at night, lightly seal with oil, then carefully wrap and scarf; this should add volume. HTH.

My guess is that when you do your hair, it won't be quite as bad as you are thinking it is now! Just be gentle with it for now on and I'm sure it will be back to normal in no time!

i don't think it will be as bad as you think either, but why were you so rough with your hair today? were you trying something different?

I was trying to get all the tangles out so I wouldn't hurt my head trying to get them out before relaxing when Thursday came. I let my head dry too much and I was just, I guess, too lazy to walk all the way down the hall back to the bathroom to re-wet my hair (I live in a dorm and it seemed tedious at the time).

I hope it's not too bad! Thanks guys!

ReaL, I understand the laziness component perfectly, lol! Maybe you can see about getting a spray bottle (I got mine at Sally's Beauty Supply for 60 cents, I think). That way you can have the option of re-wetting your hair without having to leave your dorm room. And while you're out getting the spray bottle, you might as well pick up some distilled water (less than $1/gallon). Good luck! I don't think the results of your touchup will be as bad as you think either.

Hey there, the oil that you drizzle on your hair like perfectpeace suggested is a good idea, if you use castor oil it'll make your hair appear thicker, now for extra volume take some nexxus headress to the salon and have them use it before you go under the dryer, also not too much heat of course. You should be just fine.

RealLuv, don't relax your hair. I've had so many friends with beautiful, natural hair relax their mane for a one day affair only to regret it. Just have your hair professionally flatironed or hotcomed if you want a straight look.

Re: Nooooooo! I just ruined my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think your hair may look thicker with a press. good luck!

Re: Nooooooo! I just ruined my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depending on who does it, the hair probably would look thicker with a press. Don't forget that very often when people relax, the hair seems more thin than usual the first couple days following (this used to happen to me when I was relaxed, plus other members have complained about the same thing). If you do decide to relax, however, definitely use the Nexxus Headdress for added volume.

Re: Nooooooo! I just ruined my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recommend that you get your hair in the best possible health and conditon before you relax.

Re: Nooooooo! I just ruined my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to relax because its really no thing to me. I'll probably transition again soon enough. I've never done the big chop the many times I've went from permed to natural and my hair never broke from the two textures so it's always been easy for me. I just want to try the permed thing again for awhile. No biggie.
