no scalp cornrows

Can anyone please explain to me this technique of cornrowing the braids close together so no scalp shows?

With or without extension hair?
With extension hair - make sure you use two to three times as much as the natural hair you are braiding. That way the natural hair becomes absorbed in the braids and they begin to meet touch each row to row.
Without extension hair - I dont know.

If it is w/extension hair... i remeber going with someone to a braider(african)back in the day and seeing them sew the cornrow neatly together to close up the spaces.

Back when I had no scalp cornrows...the braider part the hair into small sections. Using kaneklon hair see cornrowed the hair in...and more kaneklon hair through out the braid as she went along..making the braid look medium size. She completed this process over the entire head until there was no scalp left showing.
