I just wanted to share with you ladies who wrap your hair often that my hair is growing out a little thicker now that I am no longer wrapping it. It is something to consider..... Now I just do rollersets and no more doobies. I have attached some pics that were taken on 6/13 and 7/17... Excuse the fatty back....

Sorry to see what resulted from wrapping your hair. But before you know it will be back with thickness to boot. Thanks for sharing.

Sherry, The 6/13 and 7/17 pics weren't after rollersetting were they? This question might sound silly but, I just had to ask.

actually it was taken two days after the rollerset.......

O.K., one more question, Since you aren't wrapping how are you protecting your hair at night?

I roll it at night with four (4) large magnetic rollers and cover it with a silk scarf. it gives my hair a little bounce and curl in the a.m.

Gee Sherry, you takin' Miracle Gro too? In one month I can see the difference in length. Do you have pics of the thinning before the big chop? I imagine it looked thinner than it does in that first pic, coz it doesn't look that bad (but what would I know
dork.gif
). But the ends definitely look somewhat fuller in the second pic not to mention that inch or so lower down your back!!!!

SherryLove, your hair is beautiful. I stopped wrapping a long time ago because of what it was doing to my hair line on one side. Now Im trying to figure something else out.

In this pic my hair looks utterly horrible.. It was taken a week before my grandma chopped it. A good cut was in order.

what about rollersets?????

I still think you would be the ultimate Aubrey's model! I'll definitely try the magnetic roller at nights. My hairline is thinning, plus I like a little bend at my ends.

Really, I always thought people said it was good for you hair.

Hmmm, now that if finally got the hang of how to do it

I would hate to see anyone experience what i did: achieving a good amount of growth then having to cut it off.....

I totally agree! I am seeing a lot of girls walking around with see-through ends and I am positive it's due to wrapping. I myself am now only doing doobies when I have a lot of new growth to try to lay down. I am also not sleeping in my doobie and I never brush it into place.

Thicker, thinner - doesn't matter too much because on sight you have stunning hair. You should really be proud.

I am also trying to find an alternative to wrapping before I go to bed each night. I love the way my hair looks the next day but the price I'm paying in loss due to daily wrapping is taking its toll.

Any suggestions for alternative night care? Because even w/ my hair loose against a satin pillowcase with all the tossing and turning I do, by morning I've got some stand-up ends and weird crinkles where they shouldn't be..

LA - so far i have been putting four large magnetic rollers in my hair at night.....I roll them in a way I can be comfortable while sleeping...

I agree with you. I only wrap once in a while. What I have been doing is wearing my hair oulled loosely in a high ponytail and then wrapping it only before I take my shower. It's only wrapped for 1/2 hour at the most...which is about once a week. This works much better than the constant wrapping...which thinned my sides out also. Your hair is looking healthy and alot thicker on the ends.

You know, come to think of it, I used to do that because I didn't wrap very well and back then I didn't have thinning sides. Hmmmm.........

I tried the loose ponytail and my sides looked thin while the middle section looked full. What's been working for me is pulling the right side of my hair back with my hands over to the left and placing a duckbill clip or two and doing the same thing on the left side. Criss cross. I don't use a comb or brush to do this, just my hands and I don't pull any hair across my hair line. Then I put on a satin bonnet and reach in to remove the clips or leave them in sometimes. In the morning all I have to do is comb it and go.

Your hair is beautiful. You are my inspiration, I will not give up on my hair journey! Is there a post where you have your hair regime listed? Do you do daily washes? Do you take vitamins?

This paragraph was taken from "feature of the month:"

When it comes to my Crown and Glory, I use only natural, organic products and oils (excluding the Dudley's relaxer that is). Over time, this has definitely made a marked improvement in the condition of my hair. My hair is constantly growing and has incredible length and shine. My moisture-thirsty tresses love the Island Naturals, Swimmers, and Jojoba/Aloe lines of Aubrey Organics for shampooing and conditioning. Once a week, my hairstylist massages my scalp for 10 minutes, then washes and deep conditions my hair. After she rinses the conditioner from my hair, she applies a detangling leave in conditioner by Giovanni with a hint of aloe vera gel before she sets my hair on magnetic rollers. I then sit under a hooded dryer to dry my hair. She never uses direct heat on my hair. Every six weeks, my hairstylist takes care to use a clarifying shampoo on my hair to get rid of any product build up followed by a moisturizing protein (Jojoba & Aloe conditioner) to keep my tresses strong and moisturized. My hairstylist relaxes my hair with Dudley's regular strength relaxer every four months. I trim my own ends every six months. I oil my scalp and hair twice a week with a heavenly mixture of castor, jojoba and rosemary oils, paying special attention to my ends.

I take (2) multivitamins per day......

Wow! I can tell a big difference in just one month! It looks great! If you don't wrap your relaxed hair at night and rollers are uncomfortable, what can one do to protect their hair at night?

You're my hair care inspiration!
