No brush or comb?

In hair purgatory
Anyone else do this? I prefer finger combing and styling to using brushes and combs. I only use a comb to part my hair. If I wash my hair regularly enough I find that I do not need to use a comb or brush to detangle or remove shed hair. I am also lucky that my hair does not really tangle and is also easy to untangle.

I want to reduce mechanical damage because I also use heat and chemicals.

Styling was my last struggle. My botoxed hair didn’t look right when I didn’t use a brush. But I created a technique that helped my hair to curl up uniformly. I haven’t used a brush or comb since and I have no issues with tangles or ssk. It seems to be working but I need to see how this will work in the long run.

I mainly wear my hair in a wash and go and I wash my hair 2x a week.

Personally, I only use a brush when I need to blow dry my hair for a trim. Otherwise, I lean heavily on finger detangling. I have noticed that moisturized hair is the easiest to detangle. As long as my hair received moisture, i.e. braid spray, LOC/LCO method, I was able to detangle mini-braids and release knots with ease.
I think washing your hair twice per week will allow you to finger detangle indefinitely.

I will probably come back later to update. I hate the feeling of brushing my hair so I’m really happy I found a solution. I might use the brush if I really want a super defined look but I prefer the look of finger styled hair

I couldn't imagine not using a wide tooth comb and then a brush while detangling. My hair often snags on my nails as well so it deters me from finger detangling. It can also drastically shrink, especially at the roots, which if left unchecked makes detangling a whole lot more arduous.

I have a lot of admiration and respect for finger combing, my goal when it comes to detangling, is to have minimal hair left in the comb/brush. Washing regularly, patience and a gentle touch help with this as well as a protein treatment every so often.

I’m also a finger detangler. I use the tail of a rat tail comb for parting. I only use tools like brushes and seamless combs when I am blow drying and straightening my hair. Even when detangling other people’s hair, I start by finger detangling before using other tools.

For me I just don’t let my hair tangle in the first place. Gel or thick cream keeps my hair frozen in place and I don’t let my hair get too frizzy before washing and resetting. I also don’t use regular shampoo anymore either unless I’m doing a hair Botox
