Something that I noticed and was glad about is that after 8 months of growth,my hair looks as though it has been cut in layers.In 8 months I did not trim at all and this means that I have no breakage.It has grown out evenly,even being worn natural(set&wrapped here)

What do you mean it has grown out evenly when it looks like layers? You mean your layers are even? Anyway it looks nice. Any pics in a natural state?
 
Hair does not necessarily grow at the same rate throughout. If a natural straightens her hair and sees unevenness, it doesn't automatically mean breakage.

It's not actually scientifically possible to have zero breakage. Maybe you don't have significant breakage...but not everyone does? Low manipulation and healthy haircare habits will always lead to low-minimal breakage.

Your opinion..you're entitled,but the same thing happened before.I did not trim my end for 3 years when it was relaxed and when I pulled down hair from the very front it was the same length as the top and the back..after 3 years..I reached my cut off point in growth length,it began to split and I had to trim the ends...it would not get any longer.This is what happened to my hair,I can't say it will happen for everyone.
 
I hesitate to because every time I say something..I get jumped on about it..old news,yada,yada,yada.lol. I realize some of what I say is basic,but the cries for help on this site means to me that basics may have been forgotten when posted 10 years ago.I comb it very very carefully,from the ends up..never comb it unless it is moisturized and never let hair balls accumulate..actually works even better now than when it was relaxed because it is stronger.Simple and basic,but it works.
 
VictoriaCrystal, hair growing in layers is not necessarily an indication that hair didn't break. If all strands are the same length, then when straightened, hair will appear to have layers because hair at the crown is starting off from a higher point than hair above the ear or at the nape. If all strands broke evenly, because they experience the same things, you'd still end up with layers for the reasons I just stated.

When hair breaks, it's the oldest ends that break. There's no way to avoid withering of ends because organic things get old and wear away. If you can keep those ends hidden as in a weave so they aren't experiencing trauma from styling or drying from the wind, then you may be able to slow down that withering. But if wearing your hair out, then your ends will wither. Since all strands are experiencing the same environmental stress, then we can guess wear and tear happens to all of them at the same rate. So if you started with layers will will end up with layers whether you have breakage or not.

Breakage doesn't always happen as one big chunk of hair, but can be as small as dust. That is why for over 30 years, I never saw my hair break but it was stuck at SL. Splits start at a microscopic scale and if you consider how skinny strands are, it's very hard for splits to get to say the size of half an inch without some of the thinner parts of the split breaking off, especially since splits don't just happen as a central tear but could be a fan of tears. And each of those arms are so thin and so weak that breakage is inevitable. Just coz you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Anyway, my point is, the way to know you had negligible breakage isn't because your hair is in layers but it is if you gained about 4 inches of length (assuming your rate of growth is average) in 8 months.
 
I am aware of what you are saying and in almost 35 years have seen all kinds of breakage too.I know it only "appears" layered because it was cut off pretty much at the same length all over also.Just saying,my ends still look great after 8 months is all.And they really do.And the combout is why.With your experience I am sure you have seen many times that we comb and break our hair all the time by plowing through it like it is a field.I just don't do that and advise others to be more gentle in the combout and have seen the results for many years..including my own.
 
Op your hair looks healthy and shiny. When you comb out what condish do you use? You said you were natural right?

But to be honest, I only read the OP and responded. I didn't really notice that OP was posting repeatedly trying to respond to each person separately.
