Well dang. I knew my ears were burning for some reason. Now I see why.
Ok, so when I started transitioning, I slacked off using the formula for two reasons. First, I didn't want the extra manipulation and had stopped daily cowashing and second, I was worried that the sulfur would be too drying and affect my delicate line of demarcation. (Why, Lawd, did the "line of demarcation" hover in my mind like the boogie man?)
Anyway, the closer I got to chopping the relaxed ends, the more comfortable I got with reintroducing the mix into my regi. But, I had to do something to make it work better for my hair. So back to the drawing board. Anyhoo, I did come up with an improved version and have been reintroducing it into my regi. Although I'm still not at the daily level that I was in 2010. But, my hair feels better and is certainly back to growing strong. I mean, not only is the length coming but, I never noticed that I had a widow's peak in my hairline until I started pulling my hair back and I noticed it on my daughters. It's hereditary from my dad's side. Anyhoo, I also used the mix on my edges and new hair filled in those areas that were naturally there. Even my baby hair grew and thickened.
Even so, I still wasn't considering mentioning changes to the formula until later down the road when I had more progress pics to confirm for those that I know will want them, and also to make sure I don't have any problems. This was my same line of thinking with the first version. I'm my own guinea pig.
As for selling the mix, since the beginning, and even now, I've had lots of inquiries regarding selling mixed bottles. I resisted early on because I didn't want to give anyone a reason to be distrustful of me. Anyone who truly knows me knows that I open my hand to share whatever I can. But still, I was a newbie and all excited about my progress. Surely some would have felt there was something to gain if I was selling the source of my excitement. So, I gave it away. And I don't regret that. And besides, who wants to pay for something they can make themselves. Apparently, many still do. There are some on this site and some of the other sister sites that are encouraging me -- pushing me, really-- to move forward. Some of you know that I responded with reluctance but said I would consider it. But when it got outside of the hair boards and ladies started openly asking on facebook, I really got flooded with requests.
So, quietly behind the scenes, I started making batches of the improved version after offering the link to the recipe for the original version. I mean hey, it works.
That said, I haven't officially launched but have decided to take what's in my hand and see what God allows me to do with it. I gotta say, it would justify (to hubby) all the time that I'm spending in the hair world although I'm keeping the margins really low so, no expectations of big dollas rolling in. But who knows what it could start. I'm hoping I can start a successful growth line and help sistas all over meet their long and strong hair goals. *eyes glaze over with pride*
But seriously, everyone has been so supportive and encouraging. All I can do is expect the best. That said, I will continue to share the link to the original version on my site (and it's all across the net) and offer to hand mix my current version for sale.
I'm working on labeling now and will share that when it's complete. I know you wanna know what's in it. It's all natural and, definitely a more robust and intentional mix. Each ingredient was chosen for a specific reason with the intention of nourishing the scalp and follicles, increasing blood flow and strengthening the new growth. AND it's working. What?!
Also, I'm continuing to update my revised blog to include herbal growth treatments, what works, why it works, recipes, techniques, etc, etc, etc. At the end of the day, I'd like to share whatever I can to help as many as I can. No purchase necessary.
I hope that answers some questions. I feel like I just got pushed into the deep end.
Keep an eye out as I update my blog. I'll likely share updates there first.
And if anyone's interested now, send me a pm for info. I'm working on a batch as we speak.
Oh, and P.S., I am planning to do a length check at the end of this month. If you haven't read my latest blog post, the link is in my siggy. Check it out. I'm TOO excited.
Ok. Delirious. Going to bed now. It's 3:30 am. Good night, ladies. zzzzzzzzz
