Nexxus Emergencee users....shampoo it out or rinse it out?

I definitely shampoo it out, mainly because the directions say to do so. Rinsing can't do what the surfactants in shampoo are capable of, and i don't know if it's safe to leave protein sitting on the outside of your hair like that.

This is what the Nexxus website suggests. Btw, i don't know why it says not rec. for use with relaxers but I think it means that you shouldn't use it right before putting a relaxer in your head, and not that it shouldn't be used on relaxed hair.

Shampoo with the NEXXUS® shampoo for your hair type. Apply an ample amount of EMERGENCÉE to completely cover the hair. Work through. Leave on for 1-2 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Shampoo with THERAPPE® Luxury Moisturizing Shampoo and follow with HUMECTRESS® Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner to maintain moisture balance. Proceed with styling. EMERGENCÉE is an excellent pre-treatment for delicate hair prior to chemical services. Not recommended for use with relaxers.

I usually rinse out really well and then do a deep conditioning treatment with heat for 45 min right after. Haven't had any problems but maybe i should shampoo out next time.

About I guess about a year or two ago I was having "serious" shedding like never before and someone here recommended it to me.
I put it on my hair right away (same day), sat under my heat cap for a few hours and rinsed it out. it worked great. I thought I was going to lose what little hair I have. It's in a small bottle, but it goes a long way.
That's my experience. HTH :)
BTW I was too afraid to shampoo or do anything after, so I didn't. It worked great!

I rinse too. Followed by a DC. I guess I need to start reading directions! OOPS!

I rinse it out followed by DC as well. I've been using emergencee for over 15 years and that was the directions until a few years ago when they included shampooing. Don't know why they added that step when the formula had not changed. I just didn't try to fix something that ain't broke so I never 'poo after, but I do rinse thoroughly and follow with DC.

Basically, the whole thing about pooing after is only in the last few years and not sure why . . .

I always rinse it out. I use it after every shampoo.

Second,

Maybe I am protein uneducated, but I sometimes think shampooing it out will flush the protein right out of the hair strand

Me too! That's why I just kept on doing it the "old" way 'cause it seems to 'poo after is undoing what you've just tried to do . . .

Plus, my hair always feels awesome with emergencee, never any problems doing it the "old" way and indeed, it help fix many a hair disasters for me over the years.

I don't know why they changed the directions either. I apply just as you, the only thing after I rinse out my DC, I put Porosity Control in my hair for 15 minutes. This method makes my hair super strong.

I shampoo the Emergencee out as the directions say, im too afraid of having breakage from hard protein laden hair, i use a gentle shampoo, Also, though I dont relax anymore, I so wish I had used this b4 i relaxed, it adds protein to the hair so the relaxer may not remove as much of the hairs own protein. When i called Nexxus this was recommended

I shampoo it out with the Botanoil shampoo. Afterward I deep condition with the Humectress.
