Hi everyone! I'm new to these forums and am just trying to keep up with all of the great advice! You ladies are giving me courage to take charge of my hair. I hardly ever wash my hair at home. It's been years actually. I was never great a t roller setting and if I'm dealing with wet hair AND new growth, I'm scared that I'll damage my hair. I always go to my Dominican salon for my relaxers, wash/deep condition and set but I would like to learn to do my hair also. Any suggestions or links to get me started will be very much appreciated. I would also love to be able to stretch my relaxer time as well. My hair is just below my shoulders, I guess it's a 4 something (I have to look that one up) and it's somewhat thin to me. I've bought a few new hair products that some have raved about but I'm scared ya'll. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. I have to work tonight. TIA!

Hi!! Welcome to the forum! I'm a bit of a newbie myself and just want to say that you have def come to the right place. I joined a little over a week ago and my hair is already thanking me :)

What new product u trying?

 I just posted a long reply and it wouldn't go through! Okay, here I go.

First off I really need to sleep right now because I'm working tonight, but I guess my addiction has started. This a new computer so until I download my pics you can check out my myspace page here for some pics of me and my dd. http://www.myspace.com/103058328 Let me know what you think!

This week I visited sally's, CVS, the local BSS, and folica.com this what I got

Sedu flat iron (mostly for dd)
Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide
Fantasia IC Heat Protector (pink)
fantasia IC Olive Moisturizing Shine Serum (green)
WGO
Elasta QP mago Butter
a new Blow dryer (for dd)
Sta-So-Fro
Silk elements Magasilk Moisturizing Treatment (packet)
Silk Elements Silken Child line for my dd (Never tried it b4)

I had already
CON poo green label
Surge Plus 14 Revitalizer (haven't used in months)
12 in 1 creme rinse
a bunch of Motions poos/conditioners, Sulfur 8 poo, just a lot of stuff that I've tried in my dd's hair over the years (you'll understand when you see her hair-I'm still learning with her)

Since I always go to the salon, I just use a little Perfect for Perms and wrap my hair for the next day. I only wear a ponytail when I need a relaxer. I have a keloid on my ear that I try to cover by always wearing my hair down. I do use some Alter Ego Leave in (green label) at the salon before they roller set and they also use a Rebalancing Cream I think it's salerm I can't remember right now.

My issues are my hair is thin, so the longer it grows, to me it looks thinner. Also I have been experiencing some slight shedding lately and my dd says I have some "little white stuff" in my hair. I am about 4 weeks post relaxer and my hair was last washed last Saturday. Thanks for the replies!

You have pretty hair and it looks healthy. The products you picked up are some good ones. You must've been checking out the raves from this board.

I work nights too so I know what you mean. I'm on here all the time when I should be sleeping so yeah, your addiction has officially started.....get some sleep girl!:)

Thank you. You're right. I picked things up that I read about on the boards. I need to visit Target to get some conditioners. CVS was out of the VO5 and Suave ones the other day. Anyway, thanks agian. I'm about to lay down for a few. Later.

welcome! I was checking out your myspace. You make me miss home(NY) ya'll had carnival yet on eastern parkway? I have the tendency to get off subject.

oh by the wy I think your hair looks fine to me. It looks pretty healthy. It will only flourish from here. yes you will be obsessed with this site and I see you are already a product junkie. You'll do fine with your goals.

Hi Buttaflye03,

I'm a newbie too (sorta) and I'm an RN as well. Your pics are nice and your hair looks good to me. Your daughter has absolutely gaw'jus hair. I have 3 boys so I never had the chance to deal with any of that.:D

Hope to see you around the boards!

Delta
