I'm still very new and I have a few questions for anyone that can help.

First off, I've been natural for 1 year (I tend to chop off my relaxer and go natural for a few months just to keep from being bored. I currently have a twa (teenie weenie afro) that's about 1-2 inches when stretced. I'm 4b around the hairline areas and 4a (or 3c) at the crown and nape. VERY thick and dense hair.

Well, what I'd like to know is:

~ Any kinky type 4b ladies here that texturize? I don't really aim for the bone straight look cuz that would be fighting a losing battle for me. I guess what I'm trying to achieve is that old school, fluffy, Rudy Huxtable look lol. I LOVED her hair when she was a kid. My natural is ok, but I'm starting to miss being able to wash my hair in the shower and just blow dry it for a few seconds and GO. Twistouts take too long and wash and go afros don't mix with my baseball caps lol.

~ Also, what brand of relaxer do you use? Lye? or No-lye? I COULD buy one of those texturizer kits for my length right now, but when I start to achieve the longer length, I'm not going to throw my money to a stylist. In fact, I've NEVER really been dependant upon a stylist. I've gone approximately 20-30 times in my life and half of those times, I've come home and re-did it

. I've never been big on 'styles', per se.....I tend to favor free flowing, healthy looks with body

~ How do I avoid 'underprocessing' my hair. Wouldn't a texturizer technically be underprocessing? I figure that I can apply the cream and rinse it out after a few minutes with minimal smoothing, to achieve the slightly kinky look that I want.

~ Finally, If someone could suggest any photo albums of texturized 4b, that would be GREAT.

Ps, I LOVE Isis' hair. Just fabulous!

Thanx for any help. This forum is AWESOME!
