Newbie....HELP!

Hello ladies,

Please help me. I have always had BSL hair. I would chopped it off and it would grow back no problem. I became pregnant, didn't want to fuss with my hair and cut it just above the shoulders. Fast forward, baby is born and now my hair is coming out in hunks. It is dry all of this time, no matter what I condition/moisturize with. The top it off, the majority of my breakage is in the crown area. I have made the decision to texlax, but I have not idea as where to begin. I went to the salon a few weeks ago and had a trim which she cut it just above my shoulders. It has been three months since I have had a relaxer, but I don't have very much new growth at all. It seems as if my hair is not growing.:wallbash:

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have postpartum shedding, which is normal, but definitely a pain... Due to all of the hormonal changes and everything going on in your body, the hair is usually the first thing most new moms experience shedding and issues.. I've never had a baby, and so I'm not sure what to tell you what to do, so I hope others chime in real soon. ..

I have hypothyroid and after my son was born, I had the exact same problems you descirbed. I guess the rapid hormone change kicked the hypo into overdrive :ohwell: Super dry, brittle hair that came out in clumps. None of my products gave me slip anymore, nothing seemed to keep my hair moisturized and my hair growth came to a halt

I would suggest going to the doctor to get your thyroid checked. Also get your iron levels checked because that can cause hair loss as well.

Until you go to the doc, join the deep conditioning challenge and dc twice a week. This helped my hair tremendously. Also stay away from products that have a lot of cones, mineral oil and the like. You need REAL moisture, not slip. No heat, moisturize twice daily, comb very gently in small sections from the ends up
HTH! Good luck, and congrats on your new little one :)
