first off, i'd like to say "hello" to you all...it's been truly a pleasure lurking and now i have summoned up the courage to ask a very serious question - i hope someone can relieve me of my heartbreak.

i recently moved to arizona from the midwest...in the midst of my staying here, i've encountered very, very dry hair (as well as a salon horror). i eventually found a great stylist who did my touchup and i told him that i wanted an assymetrical bob (i needed the cut to get to my unfrizzed and unburnt hair), but to leave enough to cover the back of my neck.

THAT WAS TOO MUCH TO ASK!

homeboy sliced my hair on my right side right up to my ear...before, i had shoulder length hair. now, i feel exposed. actually, words cannot express my utter dismay. needless to say, I NEED SOME HAIR!!!!

my query is this:

do y'all think i could rock a sewn in weave while allowing my hair to grow back healthy or would it be best to care for my hair in the state it's in now, which is SHORT? i didn't find anything on here addressing short hair, so i thought i'd ask.

(by the way, that fotki "dontspeakdefeat" is SUPERB!)

 please help!

You can do a weave as long as you properly care for the hair underneath. Do a search and I think you'll find something to help you along.

thanx, ladies! i'll seek the weave then...oh, to have my hair back!:(

i'm so sorry that happened to you sweetie. Yes- you can definitely get a sew-in to grow you hair back but make sure that you still moisturize, shampoo and condition your hair.

thank you ALL very much! i already feel like i'm at a professional hair school...you ladies rock!

i'll be shopping for hair products today and, possibly, a fall until my weave appointment comes...

Hi, Many ladies here use weave as a protective style. I prefer buns.

Welcome to the board.

i WISH i could do a bun, but i have no hair for it...i saw the baggie method and decided i would do mini twists all over and put the baggie over my hair...i hope it works - it's all trial and error at this point. i'm just a bit scared to go shopping for OPH (other people's hair) because i've never used it nor condoned the usage in my house...however, we live and we learn, right?
