Girl I wonder that myself.
The stores tend to promote alot of weaves and braids instead of promoting hair health. And they have some really good products but some women are so stuck in their ways they pile up on the grease and use any old conditioner.
Some like us have been researching though

Yesterday, I had my hair in a loose french roll, and when my sister saw(the one with the 'good' hair) it she says "Is all that yours?" She didn't even wait for an answer. She grabs the pins out of my hair. In bajan- "It like it gettin' long!"
This is saying a lot because she's been trying to get me to cut my hair back down to three inches like before, because I obviously don't have that good,growing hair. I showed her.

SweetNic- I had the sunroof down today driving around - and then I remebered all the damage sun does to the hair and I covered it back up
But I would say it is 90F with a few clouds but mainly blue skies. Perfect beach weather if I wasn't on sick leave.

It took some patience- a lot actually- but I'm now starting to see the results of my hard work.
My mother can't understand half the things I'm doing with my head, but she just ignores me. According to her, it isn't normal for black people to wash their hair every week. She washes hers every month.

Welcome. I am also from Bim been living here for a short time and am in Barbados often recently everymonth. I would really like to meet you bajan ladies living in Bim on my next visit. Should be the end of this month. By the way, if you all want me to bring soem stuff that you can't get pm me. we could have our own little meeting in BIM, first ever.
