Hi. Ginger Lime here. I am quasi-new. I left LHCF after a while, and decided to try things on my own. BAD IDEA! I am stuck at the length I was when I started. It's just sits at my shoulders, mocking me.
So, I'm back to do something about it. I thought about when my hair was the longest, and it was back in '84 when my mom did my hair. I called her up and asked her what she did to my hair. It seemed the most logical to do what grew it out the best.
So, with a couple of tweeks, is my self-made "Throwback Challenege": I will use the fewest products, techniques, and the most simple regimen I can muster. No PJism, no bandwagons, no fads, no growth aides.
In fact, I gave away all the hair stuff I have but what is below.
Here I go (What she did is in purple, and what I am going to add to it is in green)
Shampoo: Dr. Bronner's Soap in Peppermint or Lavender
Deep Conditioner: Two eggs and a little bit of olive oil on my hair until dry then rinse with beer OR Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose for 30 minutes under warm towel, then rinse
Rinse: (for either deep conditioner (after beer)) I have a stockpile of herbs from a failed experiment; nettle, rosemary, sage, chamomile, lavender, rose petals, and hibicus. Make an infusion with a little alcohol to preserve, and rinse hair.
Clarify: If needed, ACV and Baking Soda; if really gunky I have some Dr. Bronner's Eucalyptus soap and tea tree oil
Leave in: Mix of herbal infusion, rosewater, glycerin, and jojoba/olive oil; spray and walk away
Protective Style: Wigs (my mom used them herself for one year and now she is APL unstretched-go figure, and now I am rocking one)
Weekly: shampoo, deep condition, rinse, braid it up with a little bit of oil (coconut)
Daily: Rinse in shower, spray on leave in, and put on wig
*Will rebraid as necessary with leave in and oil
Thanks for reading. Any suggestions, particularly with scalp grease would be great. Fought the urge to buy the $2 jar of Softee Indian Hemp from Walmart.
