I don't let anyone flat iron my hair but my hair dresser is in valley stream and is good with a marcel iron.

And he *gasps* knows what heat damage is!! He pressed my hair before and didn't burn it up.

Juanita from Dominican Expressions in Brooklyn. My hair never suffered from heat damage and has stayed healthy. There's a thread in the Salon forum.

I've used Juanita (formerly of Dominican Expressions) in Brooklyn and I also tried Hair Rules on 9th Ave in Manhattan.

I am not 100% sold on either place since both stylists tried to comb my hair from root to tip. I literally yelled at Juanita's shampoo girl (Juanita finish my hair). Hair Rules was like a long infomercial (used their products and tried to get my to purchase) and the stylist (also natural) initially was ripping through my hair (root to tip) until I took the comb from her.

I like my at home results better and recently purchased a comb attachment for my blow dryer.
