Hello ladies, I've come out of lurkedom and joined about a week ago.....needless to say, I am hooked. I love reading everyone's oh so helpful information and seeing everyone's progress and beautiful hair (relaxed and natural), it's so inspiring. I've been rocking a short cut for about 3+ years now, and recently put in long rope twist. My first reasoning for them was to be able to work out without worry, cause my short hair along the sides and back would curl up when I would sweat, but now I've decided to go natural. I figured hey, I've had from bsl to short spikes, the only style I haven't tried is a natural, so I wanna try it out!!!!

The other things that's encouraged me is that when I took out my first set of rope twist (I wore those from jan-mar), my mom, whose a stylist BTW, washed me and then worked in some Porosity Control condish, my hair was mad curly, based on what I've learned here, I would say I'm a 4a, not totally sure, but will post pics once I take out these twist. Hair length isn't a real concern of mine, healthy, lush hair is more important to me right now after having a few surgery's and the anesthesia has truly taken a toll on my hair edges, they have thinned out something terrible.

Now here's my dilemma....
1st.....after reading a few of the threads, I kinda get the idea that I can and should wash my hair while in the twist, is this true? Last time I had so much white goey stuff, it was gross and stinkie!! lol
2nd....What to do once I take the twist out, what kind of shampoo should I use(I read somewhere that I should use a clarifying poo). I would like recommendations of poo's and condish's to use, especially as a novice to natural or should I go to a natural salon for them to help get me started? I'm in Broward County, Fl if anyone has suggestions.
3rd....I think I've said enough for now:spinning:, so please Ladies, guide me fill me with your knowlege of maintaing beautiful natural hair!!!

Hello and welcome
You should definately wash your hair while in twists.
You should put your shampoo in color bottle that
way the neck can get down between the twists. As
far as what shampoo lots of folks like suave. I don't
put too much stock in one shampoo over another.
Some wash with a conditioner instead.

Happy Hair Growing

:welcome3: Hope you enjoy your stay here. I am not natural so I cannot provide much insight. This board is very resourceful, do a search and I am sure you'll come up with something beneficial.

Welcome. I am not natural either and have no twist knowledge. Also, sounds like you are a 3 something rather than a 4. Again, welcome aboard.
