I have seen members who used a hair product called AMLA, has anyone heard of this and what do you think? I would surely love any kind of feedback:p

i havent used it yet. but some members here do alma oil treatments as hot oil treatments or as a pre shampoo to darken their hair and strengthen it.

Well, there is amla oil and amla powder. Both are herbal Indian hair care products. The oil can be used as a pre-shampoo conditioning treatment ("pre-poo") and the powder is used (usually in conjunction with henna) to - I think - add curl and shine to the hair.

Hopefully Dlewis will be in to tell you all about it. I have some, its green and runny, i dont really care for it. but alot of people on the board swear by it. It does darken the hair though.

"jumping and raising hand" I use it and love it. I use Dubar Amla Oil and it stinks but the benifits are - my hair is well conditioned and stronger. And it's darked my hair a lot also.

I also use the amla powder and a tea rinse.

Is it great for achieving length?...I seen Dlewis fotki page and I remember seeing AMLA on other fotki pages but I have no knowledge about it

Amla Oil
(A wonderful Hair oil)

According to Ayurveda, Amla is one of the best drug meant for the treatment of viccited Pitta-dosha. The same Dosha is also responsible for hair problems such as hair loss and premature greying of the hair. So Amla in form of oil is of great use in these cases.

Amla Oil is one of the world's oldest natural hair conditioners. As an Indian herb, amla oil has been used in India since a very long time. As Indian Ayurveda says, it is used as hair oil basically for its cooling effect.

BENEFITS & USES OF AMLA OIL :
Amla Oil enriches hair growth and pigmentation. It prevents premature graying of hair, dandruff, increases the strength of hair follicles (and thus preventing hair-fall). Customarily, a small amount of Amla oil is applied to the hair after washing. This not only brings forth a rich, natural shine and soft texture to the hair, but also helps rejuvenate hairs that are dull and damaged. It also prevents split hair ends.

Application of Amla oil over the scalp has a cooling effect. As such, it keeps the mind cool and promotes sound sleep.

Amla oil along with various other formulations such as drugs like Brahmi, Shikakai and Reetha are very beneficial for mind, hair and body.

Amla oil is useful for increasing memory

Usage:

1. Part your hair and apply oil all over the scalp
2. Massage the scalp gently with fingers in a circular motion, so that the oil gets absorbed into the scalp, gradually
3. Leave for an hour or more before washing with an all-natural shampoo.

I don't know about it helping with premature greying. It hasn't helped me with that. But I still love it.

It can be found at Indian grocery stores, but not at your "regular" beauty supply store. You can also order it online (someone has already posted websites that sell the oil).

ETA: Please note - amla oil does NOT smell very good! LOL
