Not necessarily. It depends on the base of the black....if it's green you get green highlights (maybe). If it's violet or something else you get like a burgundy color as it rinses out....

See if you can find out the base color....

Although less common, the base of black color IS sometimes blue, but it will usually give a hint in the name by calling it blue or "oriental"....so they're easier to avoid.

Stay away from these too.

If something does have a blue base can I mix it with a color with a red base and be alright? I think I'm just going to go with a dark brown for now and move onto a black in the summer *when I'm tanner*.

Yeah you could do that MsK (smart cookie! ) but if you do make sure you use about one part red to one part blue black - blue is harder to counteract than green AND the rinse down will be purpleish or burgundy as opposed to like a reddish brown....

I would stay away from bluw blacks altogether to be honest. But that's just cuz I don't like dealing with the potential for hassle that they bring to the table.
