sometimes my scalp itches for no reason. i always think it's because my hair is growing at a faster rate than normal. maybe that's just wishful thinking...

There is actually a reason for it a dermatologists said that sometimes when the follicles are especially active (growing) that the scalp will itch occasionally. I am not the only one who experiences this.
