so I'm five weeks post relaxer and I can't comb my hair. I dont know what to do. The roots are really hard and thick, the ends look like they were in the sun ( some strands are reddish)
I dont know what to do.
I tried deep conditioning. I tried daily washing. I dont know what else. I can't even finger comb really.
I normally comb under running water but I can't even do thant now. Its too early to relax so what do I do?

I am having a bad time!!I have been parting my hair down the middle and putting a satin scarf on it at night and then putting a bonnet on top!! Then in the morning roll it with the caruso rollers!! As of tonight I will probably do a twistout!!!

What are you doing to yours?? I just looked at your album I think we are hair twins and are about the same length and and permed about a day apart!!!

Moisturize your new growth more often & opt for protective styles until your next touch-up.

What leave ins or detanglers are you using??

i had the same problem you did when i was relaxed. and i had to relax every 6 weeks and by then by hair was breaking like crazy so i had to relax. i've heard others say that they use s curl on their new growth. look up stretching relaxers and you should find more tips.

At least I am not alone I was just about to start a thread.
I am 4 weeks post and my roots are like 6 weeks. I shouldnt complain as its growth that I want but.......... Damn my wearing my hair down days are over all ready.
I did wear it down today, but I have to straighten it to death and now I feel so GUILTY. Tommorow I am gonna give me hair back all the moisture I took out with a wash and deep con.

Buns for the next 8 weeks here I come!!!!

Now I see why b 4 LHCF I would relax at 6 weeks, it became so unmangable and I just didnt know what to do with it.

I have about 2inches of new growth and the ONLY thing that has made it combable is Surge 14. I cant believe how fast it softens it. I maybe able to stretch another 4 weeks now.

The best advice I can give you is dont fight the texture. Find a style that allows you to not have to comb it so much. I do regular deep conditioning , co washes, and protective styles only after 5 weeks. Either a bun or phony pony. I only take my hair down to wash, use s-curl on the roots and redo the style.

Wash, condition, and style your hair in sections. Detangle your hair before washing.
ITA w/ this. I have a lot of new growth and decided to detangle, divide and then braid my hair into the sections I use to roller set. I washed and conditioned like this. When it was time to rollerset, it was a lot easier to do b/c I wasn't dealing with gobs of tangled hair.

I have been doing low pony tails or parted down the middle with two granny plaits that i tuck the ends in.
I tie it down at night.
Get this though, last night i saturated my head with EVOO and i put a plastic cap on, then my scarf. This morning, i took it off to wash , and it was SOFT!! even the new growth. I have a deep condition in right now, I hope when i wash that out it will still feel soft.

I will try this for the next couple of weeks. Thanks

I was telling my girlfriend about my hair woes and she said just to realx it. I tried to explain to her thatits too soon. I plan on experimenting this weekend with oils and s-curl to see if that helps.

Try this....

Find a mosurizing poo.... portion out how much u think u may need to generously coat ur hair... warm it in the microwave for 5 secs at a time until it's warm (( NOT HOT )). Mix it thoroughly to rid any hot spots. Apply to ur *dry* hair... cover with a plastic cap.... let sit for at least 30 mins...

This should *hopefully* soften ur new growth, make ur hair easy to detangle, etc. I use Daily Defence, Pantene, Lustrasilk Cholesterol, Suave Balsam & Protein.

Lemme know if it works for u :)

Also try wearing your hair curly. that's what I usually do when its time for a touch-up. put small rollers in, and finger comb afterwards. at night, I use the metal clips you use with magnetic rollers to hold the curls. Sometimes you have to be careful with constantly slicking your hair back in ponytails. It may weaken your hairline.

I say u should relax it. If u have the equivalent to two months growth already, then u should treat it like 2 months growth and relax it IMO. Well, for me that is what I would do b/c I have to be careful when it comes to stretching relaxers. If ur hair usually breaks when u stretch ur relaxers, then u should get a retouch. If u have the kind of hair that can stretch relaxers, then I guess u can continue what u are doing.

BTW, is this growth from the MTG, SUrge, or just the summer? Also, how long is your hair?
