I just wanted to say hi officially. I was checking up the site for a few months now. I'm glad there's a nice site like this one to help peolpe out.
I'll try not to get addicted to the site but there are so much info in here, it's amazing. Who knows, maybe I'll reach my goal!

I have texturized hair (but i braided my hair since I went on vacation to the beach for two weeks) and I started the smoother version of MTG a few days ago so I'll keep you posted on this. I also wanted to know from texturized people what is their regimen and how it goes for them.

Thanks for reading and God Bless!!

Girl...good luck with that :lachen: :lachen:

Hey Sweetpuff! (I love your name :D ) I am textlaxed (used a relaxer product to slightly relax the curl pattern of my hair - about 60%) and, to tell you the truth, I've just recently (been a member since 2004) decided to stop purchasing every-little-thing-I-read-about and try to stick with products long enough to see what actually works and what doesn't.

I can tell you that CO-washing has truly improved the definition of my coils/curls. However, and I wish this were not true, the cheapie conditioners don't do much in the way of conditioning or moisturizing for me: I have come to use the conditioners others on LHCF typically use for deep conditioning. One thing is for sure: Spend the time finding the best conditioner(s) for your hair since that's the product that actually spends the most time on your hair. That's not to say you should purchase "cheap" shampoos and styling products, but I have found that using, say a $15 shampoo doesn't necessarily make sense to me since I'm washing it out and if I can find a $4.00 that works as well. JMO, others may disagree... I'm still learning myself!

At any rate, have a wonderful journey! The best part of the experience, for me at least, has been "getting to know" the personalities on this board. The sistahs here have become like the "girlfriends" you call when you need to hear a "sane version of reality!" You will definitely find support here, that's fo sho!

Best,
BamaBelle

Thanks for the good vibes everybody!

Bamabelle: I am at the same stage you are : sticking to a few products long enough to see the results. I guess I'll learn to be patient during my journey!! S-curl, Comb thru shampoo (is that only for guys? I think not) and my oil/sulfur thingy.

Love you guys already!!!!

I have it detailed in my hair journal, if you want to check it out. It hasn't been updated in a while, but I'm still doing it.

WELCOME!

I'm texturized, I cw almost daily and wear my hair in a loose bun or a flip, I wash once weekly. When perming I use lady velvet and only leave the perm in my hair about 5 min (just to relax the curl a bit). I relax every 8-10 weeks. Stretching beyond that, for me, will only lead to breakage.

When wear my hair rollset, I use a hot oil treatment, wash and condition, use setting lotion, and roll. This normally last from 4 days to 7 days before my scalp start to itch.

I've also learning not to buy everything I read about on the boards, I know what works for my hair and I stick with it. I happy to say that I'm a recovered product junkie.;)
